It is in excellent condition and was reprinted in 1973 by Seward W. Lilly and Litho Printers & Bindery in Cassville, MO. There is so much information in this large book, but I will try to capture the highlights. There are chapters on the following: Early Settlements, Early Military Records, Civil War in Missouri, Agriculture and Material Wealth, Platte Purchase, Religious Denominations, Pioneer Life, Organization, Bench & Bar (judges & attorneys), Crimes, Incidents, and Accidents, Old Settlers Reunion in 1874, Churches, Hamlets and Villages, History of St. Joseph, Old Settlers and What They Did, Newspapers, City Officers, Public Schools, Railroads, Trade-Commerce etc, Colleges & Banks, Great Iron Bridge and Union Depot, Fire Department of St. Joseph, MO, County Lunatic Asylum, Poor House, and Farm. There are over 400 pages of biographical sketches. Some of the surnames are the following: Abercrombie, Alden, Alderman, Allen, Albin, Ambrose, Andriano, Anderson, Angel, Angsten, Armstrong, Arnold, Arnhold, Arthemian, Ashford, Ashton, Atwill, Axhelm, Aylesbury, Bacon, Baden, Badger, Bailey, Baker, Banes, Bandel, Barnard, Barnes, Bassett, Batcheller, Bauman, Beck, Behr, Bell, Bennett, Bernard, Berghoff, Bishop, Bittinger, Blakemore, Boaz, Boder, Bogle, Bombeck, Boller, Bortle, Boteler, Bottger, Bowen, Boyd, Brady, Branyan, Braun, Bradshaw, Brill, Brittain, Bright, Brown, Brosi, Brooker, Brunsing, Bryant, Buddy, Buell, Bulling, Burnes, Burgess, Burvenich, Burns, Burnside, Burvenich, Butcher, Hummel, Butler, Clay, Buzard, Byrne, Cables, Ozenberger, Callaway, Campbell, Harral, Harkey, Hartwig, Hauck, Heaton, Hawley, Hedenber, Herwig, Heschong, Jenkins, Johnson, McCord, McCoun, Millan, Turner, Mitchell, Miles, Reid, Reese, McMachen, Register, Sommers, Sorge, Southworth, Spaldin! g, Stemler, Steinbrenner, Wyeth, Wyatt, Deppin, Homan, Wogan, Vondenbosch, and many more.
