My great grandfather Wm. A. Bledsoe is mentioned as is one of my g g grandfathers John Tobin. I am assuming Annie Schagh's maiden name is Martin, but can find no proof. She arrived in 1902 and Henry in 1901. I have not been able to find their immigration info of where they went after 1910. Have reached a deadend with my Martin relatives. Is yours the Mihael Schagh, married to Rosia with son John who lived in St. Louis in 1910? You have probably seen 1910 census info. Thank you. Some descendants say Wullum is where she was born and that Andersen is her surname. Others dispute that saying Wullum Andersen or Andersen Wullum is her surname. Descendants have little or no knowledge of genealogies, especially patronymics in the Scandinavian countries and naming customs and traditions. Lacking any family bibles, etc., I'm hoping that other primary documentation (marriage license or certificate, naturalization application, etc.) can be found to resolve the issue. Again, thanks for the resource. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: cacincotta Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.buchanan/4323.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I noted Henry and Annie coming to the US in earlier searches on Ancestry. I don't like their new setup---can't seem to reach anything I need and no way to get back to the beginning of each session without going all the way out. I have a grandfather, Michael Schagh, whom I've traced back to a Josef with a few variations of name spellings. I orginally traced him back to a Jacob in Estschka and then figured out I had the wrong parents, etc. and ended up with a different brother. There were other names in the family such as Dominic, Mathias, Anton, Johan,Nikolaus, George, Franz, Peter but alas no Henry or Heinrich. A researcher on the Banat List tells me that the name came from Lorraine and he spelled it JACQUES. It seems awful far fetched in spelling but he sticks by it. I see that you list him as born in Hungary, Zichydorf?? that is where Michael came from before he went to Canada and then to Minnesota. Arrived in the US about 1917, just in time for my mother to be born. Do any of these names fit into your tree? carol Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Phylogeny_Hunter Surnames: Peterson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.buchanan/4335/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am especially interested in finding any records that would give the surname of his wife, Nina. Standard Certificate of Death for August in my possession does not include that information. August immigrated with family to York, NE, from Sweden about age 9. According to death certificate, he was in Buchanan County circa 1910 at age 38. Draft registration card dated 12 Sep 1918 indicates that they were married prior to 1918. 1930 US Census of Buchanan County indicates he and Nina married about 1914/15. The only information I have relative to his wife, Nina, is that she was born in Denmark, was living in St. Joseph until August died in 1954. She subsequently moved to Chino, San Bernardino, CA where she lived until she died in 1987. SSDI does not provide information needed. At least one if not all of their children have also died. As you can imagine, I cannot begin to search in Denmark without her surname. Any information or suggestions will be appreciated.
