Here is an idea that is worth working on. From the KYCARTER-L list In regards to unkept cemeteries: as some of you may know, we initiated a cemetery maintenance project at the Carter Co. web site. A few cemeteries have sponsors, but we need many more. A few hours of effort, even from out of state can make a big difference. For example, we have a cemetery maintence fund at a local bank for the Ross Chapel Cemetery. We are fortunate to have a local person who has kindly agreed to accept payment from the fund to mow the cemetery several times a year, keep the fences mended, etc.. For several years, we've had a crude sign on a post at the cemetery giving the mailing address to use for donations, so the visitors to the cemetery can help out as they are so inclined. I live in California, but I recently made up a plastic all-weather sign and sent it to the maintenance man to be posted at the cemetery. We've never been over-whelmed with donations, but we get by. At least no one has to feel guilty about having their kin in our little cemetery. http://www.rootsweb.com/~kycarter/cemetery/preserve.html

His father (Ernest VOSS) had been in St Louis for the 1850 census along with a brother named Charles VOSS. Ernest was unmarried then. Am looking for the marriage record for Ernest VOSS between 1850 and 1852. Searching for the name for Ernest's first wife. Ernest VOSS remarried a second time in St Clair County IL in 1856. Don't know if Ernest VOSS and his first wife were divorced or she passed away between 1852 and 1856.
