    3. Hi June I've tried contacting the admin. for this list since last week when I opened another one similiar to this with a aol address and upon clicking the link it downloaded a virus; beware of anything with link with the word "outwar" or "ka" (and now it seems "targetnet" also. I do hope rootsweb.com will think of something to keep these malicious people out. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 19, 2004 1:56 PM Subject: Beware! 3. Hello again, I thought I better let you all know I was getting some bad feed back from the computers list concerning the use of the preview pane. So I went on a search and came up with the following. Guess I'll be disabling mine. ~Marie ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Cook's" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2004 9:41 AM Subject: outlook express "The message preview pane in Outlook Express is really nice and useful, but it comes with the risk of catching a worm or virus by just previewing a message. That's why it is best to disable the preview pane for security reasons in Outlook Express. To disable the preview pane in Outlook Express: a.. Select View | Layout... from the menu in Outlook Express. b.. Make sure Show preview pane is not checked. c.. Click OK. a.. You can also click Apply to put the new settings into effect without closing the configuration dialog." ~ Heinz Tschabitscher http://email.about.com/cs/oetipstricks/qt/et122201.htm "More Outlook Express tips you can use" http://email.about.com/c/ec/1.htm

    3. I apologize for being so uninformed but the recent discussion about the trojan virus brought up a question; how does one delete a suspected email without opening it? Whenever I even put the pointer on a selection my computer opens it up. If I try to right click on it to move it to the deleted items folder it opens before it can be moved. Any suggestions? I do have virus protection on computer and through internet server but just in case....Thank you Peggy in Kansas

    1. [MOBUCHAN] Delete the Digest email with trojan horse/virus included in recent MOBUCHAN list digests
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zJB.2ACE/1969 Message Board Post: I got the last few digest email where some of you have included the bad posting which included the trojan horse so that we all could see what was hurting our anitvirus software. Well guys, stop replying to the message and delete the whole digest email message including all of any prior received emails with replys or the original itself. I started having problems too. and my husband almost killed me for opening the post. So having the email posting with that message in it is all it takes, even if you don't open the email or click on the link included in the post. I just deleted all emails related to it, and my antivirus software stopped freaking out. So delete them all with that name in the list of postings "GREAT SITE TO FIND ANCESTORS" then empty your deleted items too. Just so you all feel better about me sharing this info with you, my husband works in the computer industry here in Chicago, IL and has to deal with all this at work also, that's why he got so mad. Thanks for listening.

    1. [MOBUCHAN] Philo Allyn and P. H. Allyn in St. Joseph, MO, 1880 Census
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Allyn, Allen, Connely, Welborn Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zJB.2ACE/1968 Message Board Post: The 1880 census of St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., MO has both P.H. Allen age 56, stock and cattle dealer, born in IN, parents b. NY, living with his wife Sarah (b. NC), daughters Mary and Julia, and sons Charles and William, AND Philo Allyn age 55, occupation "out of business" born IN, parents born France (crossed out) and NC, relationship "uncle" in household of B. F. Connely age 33, his wife E. L. age 23 b. NC, and daughter M.E. I know that the P.H. Allyn mentioned above is the same person as Philo H. Allyn b. 1824, IN, d. 1888, NE. I suspect that the second person listed is the same individual. Can anyone provide me with evidence proving or disproving the hypothesis that E. L. Connely, wife of B. F. Connely, was the niece of Sarah Welborn Allyn, wife of Philo Allyn?
