Robert L. Dixon, of Route 1, Glenn Allen, was cutting down a dead tree on his Castor River farm Wednesday when he struck his head. Dixon was active in the small Grassy community west of Marble Hill, Mo. His family found him unconscious in his truck with severe head trauma. Coroner Charles Hutchings is investigating the death, but no foul play is suspected. Dixon had apparently tried to drive for help, when he passed out. He never regained consciousness. Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Mo., is in charge of funeral arrangements. ROBERT DIXON (Obituary)--Banner Press, Marble Hill Glen Allen, Mo. -- Robert L. Dixon, 65, of Grassy, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born June 18, 1936, in Grassy, Mo., son of Robert and Ethel Bollinger Dixon. He and Jo Ann Davis were married May 26, 1984, in Coldwater; Mo. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State College in 1958. For 25 years, Dixon was owner of the Clydes Lumber Company in Fenton, Mo. He moved to Grassy in 1990. A farmer, he was a member of the Bollinger County Farm Bureau Board, serving on the State Farm Bureau Forestry Committee, and he was the treasurer of the Regional Farm Bureau farm, PAC. He also served on the University of Missouri Extension state board and the county council leadership conference. He was an active member of the Grassy neighborhood Watch, the Wayne County Cattleman's Association and the Three State Forestry advisors panel. He was a member of Greenville Masonic Lodge and worthy patron of Victory Chapter 431. Dixon was a member of Coldwater United Methodist Church and served as a lay missioner for Wesley Chapel in Lowndes, Mo. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Rebecca Adams of Ontario, Canada, Amy Griesbauer and Emily Welker, both of Fenton, Mo.; two sisters, Kathleen Yandell of Steele, Mo., and Betty Jo McClelland of Richmond Heights, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Payden Welker. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Mo., with Eastern Star services at 7 p.m. Friends may also call from 8-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Coldwater United Methodist church, with Steve Dees and Rev. Jim Sanderson officiating. Private burial will be in Ivey Cemetery. NOTE OF THANKS We would like to thank the civil defense and neighbors who helped us in our search for Robert. Words cannot express our appreciation for the kidness extended to our family after the loss of our loved one, Robert Dixon. To all those who offered sympathy, words of comfort, brought food, sent cards, flowers and memories, called and for all the prayers offered for us, we thank you.
