Not genealogy, but fitting. If you want to yell at me, go ahead, it will be worth it to get it out to the people that will appreciate it. Please don't comment on the mailing list, just send it to me. (Mozarkhick@aol.com) We don't need to clutter up the mailing list. Thank you kindly. I found this in a 1941 McKinley High School (Chicago, Ill) Yearbook. I had never seen it before. I don't know who else to credit other than the McKinley Yearbook staff. If anyone knows, please tell me. It features the graduating classes of January 1941 and June 1941. (Before the December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor) I hope that you will enjoy it....................Cathy Hill (21 Dec 2004) I AM AN AMERICAN I am an American. My country is the freest, the richest, and the most beautiful land on earth. My flag is unstained. My Navy is unconquered. My Army defends the freedom of the world. The faith of America is faith in God and man. She believes in brotherhood and opportunity. She believes in justice and mercy. America has received from all races. She gives to all races. One bond binds all races together in her citizenship. It is the bond of loyalty. To be an American is to love America, to believe in America, to serve America. To be an American is to live by the American ideals of freedom, honor, and service. I thank God for the privilege of being a child of America. I pray that I may be worthy of the privilege. With gratitude and high purpose, for service with the heart, hand, and brain. "I AM AN AMERICAN"
