    3. I am scanning my 57 year collection of files onto CDs for preservation and distribution. As I work with new files (since my books were published and files before that, many of which was not included in my books, I keep finding important notes that needs to be shared. Such is the case here. Email of Febraury 2001 from my good friends Ray and Agnes Yount of Maryland: "Lorena: On page 343 of German Speaking People West Of The Catawba River IN NC, you speculate that the BARRICKS in NC may have been related to the BERGS in Frederick Co., MD. I believe this to be correct. The Book, Volume III, "Monacacy and Cacoctin" by Calvin E Schildknecht gives the following account: "The emigrant was Johan Wilhelm Berg (Barrack) born in Nordhofen in Westerwald, Germany 1683 (son of Johan Peter) He married Johanata Maria Andreas. The dialect word for Berg in high German meaning hill or mountain is BARRACK, But Barrick has been used." "Then while searchng Frederick County Land records for my ZIMMERMAN connections, I just found the following: Liber. L. George Zimmerman recorded 8 Dec 1768, made 22 June, between HANDLE BARRICK (which seems to be the possible origin of the spelling of HUNTEEL BARKS, LSE's note) of Frederick County tract called Mill Plain. Signed: JOHAN NICHOL BARRICK. His wife, Judith, also signs, releasing her dower. (I believe this George Zimmerman is the brother of Anna Elizabeth Zimmerman who married Johannes Jundt, the NC immigrant. So it appears Handle is a contraction of Johan Nichol?" Ray Lorena's note: It would behoove BARKS descendants to follow up on this lead. Heaven only knows what I might find in my files after I have waded through the several different Baker family files, etc. I found this note in the Misc. "B" files while looking for Bakers that might have been lost in the shuffle! My good deed for the day! Lorena

    3. Lorena, are there any books still available? Also, if you distribute your CDs at some point in time, I would be intertested in receiving a copy. Thanks.
