Victoria A. Smith In memory of Mrs. Victoria A. Bennett Smith, daughter of William amd Mary Bennett, who was born May 25, 1859 and departed this life, March 24, 1927. She was married Oct. 8, 1876 to John Bess Smith. To this union eight children were born, all of whom are living except one infant son, who preceded her to the great beyond. All her children were at her bedside during the last week of her life, at the old home place 1 1/2 miles west of Patton. They are: William W. and Mrs. Naoma Davis of Patton, Theodore Smith of Senath, Alonzo G. Smith of Lutesville, Mrs. Laura Shrum of Fredericktown and Sidney and Archa of Flat River. She leaves to mourn her death, besides her husband and children, 32 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, Tom Bennett of Patton, Jim Bennett of Fredericktown, Ed Bennett of Elvins, Dock Bennett of Cape Girardeau, and 4 sisters, Mrs. Frank Henson of Cape Girardeau, Mrs. John Mills of Marquand, Mrs. Rose Berry and Mrs. Cora Henson of Colo. Mr and Mrs Smith spent more than 50 years of happy married live together. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. T. H. Jenkins. After services, her body was laid to rest in the Patton Cemetery, March 26, 1927. Helen L. Smith Hoke (I chase dead people....and they are so far ahead of me, I'll never catch up.
