    1. [MOBOLLIN] John Bess Smith Obit
    2. John B. Smith July 14, 1938 Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Methodist church of Patton for John B. Smith, who passed away Monday morning at the State Hospital at Farmington. The body was brought here to the Baker Funeral Home and was later taken to the home of a son near Patton, where it remained until the services. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Smith was 81 years old, had been failing in health for sometime and had been a patient at the hospital about a month. He had formerly lived with a son, Theodore on the old home place near Patton. He is survived by the following children: five sons, Will Smith of Oran, Alonzo G. Smith of Gravel Hill, Sidney Smith of Pevely, Arch Smith and Theodore Smith of Patton, two daughters, Mrs. Naomi Davis of Patton, and Mrs. Joe Schrum of Fredericktown, 39 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith served one term as collector of this county and was a resident of this city for several years. Helen L. Smith Hoke (I chase dead people....and they are so far ahead of me, I'll never catch up. I think they're hiding under rocks.)
