Hi Helen, concerning Madison Co., MO, by any chance do you have any information on a fire that was started by the sparks of a train?? We have a story in our family that Great-GrandMother Susan CHEEK-WHITENER was burned by that fire while she and Elijah WHITENER ( her husband, she being the 2nd wife of Elijah WHITENER) and the older children were working in the fields bringing in the crops.. I have not found any thing on this fire as of yet and don't know if she died of those burns or was just badly burnt.. also I don't have any dates on this but MeMa said she was a between 10-15 years old, she was born abt. 1883/4.. of course she is gone now so I cant ask any more questions..ugh!! :( Thank you for any help you can give me.
