I am in desperate need of some help on my HAHN line. I have: John Hahn b. before 1780, son of John and Rosina Neigh Hahn, d. in Clarke Co., IN and is suposed to have married a Hildebrand. I think I saw in my Hildebrand Files recently that Hildebrand girl, but (having a senior moment) the location of that file escapes me. At the time I never dreamed I would need it again! Do you have the Hildebrand girl's name and parents? I probably could look forever and not find it again! John Hahn, son of Benedict b. 10 Feb 1774 LCNC, died 1846, Cape Girardeau Co., MO. He first married ca 1799 in Lincoln Co. (no surviving MB). to Catherine _______. Her maiden name not included in the Bible Record on that family. She died Dec 1805 in MO in childbirth. He married 2nd Feb. 1806 to Elizabeth Slinkard in MO. I desperately need to find Catherine's maiden name. I'm helping someone in St. Louis compile Hahn records for a book and am having to start from scratch on this family. I'm looking for anything in legal records, Bible records, family records, etc. that would help prove theses connections. John did not include his 2nd wife's name in the Bible, but she appears on land records, etc. with him and the marrriage is recorded. If you are missing a Catherine, then maybe I have her. If you have a missing Hildebrand daughter, maybe I have her husband! I'll be quite happy to exchange! Thanks much, Lorena
There is none listed. I copied them from a book at the Jackson Library. They had a few there and I wanted to get as many Smith's as I knew was in my line. Helen L. Smith Hoke (I chase dead people....and they are so far ahead of me, I'll never catch up. I think they're hiding under rocks.)

I am overwhelmed with the responses regarding the covered bridges in Bollinger County. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am anxious to learn more, and share this information and the pictures with my boys. They need to learn about, and appreciate, how our forefathers managed to survive, and thrive, using whatever God and nature provided. Keep those "cards and letters" coming. As I learn more, I will pass it along. Sincerely -- Vivian

I am planning a trip there in Sept. and plan on taking as many pictures that I can on all the Mills I can find. If you can share with me where they are located, I will get a picture and share with all in Sept. Covered Bridges, too. I will give to the Bollinger Co site to be posted. Helen L. All of the interest being given to Bollinger Mill is making me think and wonder about other mills in the area. My grandfather, Ben Bollinger, had a mill in Zalma, located by the cemetery. His father, Daniel, operated a mill upriver, next to the James store which burned recently. A dam across the river was built to power that one and when it burned, the dam was destroyed. My grandfather's mill was a little too far from the Caster River to have been powered by the water. I don't know what they used for power. While driving through the country a few years ago we found another mill along another river. It may have been on the Caster River but I'm not sure. I remember hearing of the Dolle Mill. Has anyone written about the mills of Bollinger County? It would be interesting reading about the locations of the mills, how important they were to the area, and about the people who ran them. Thank you for any news along this line. Vivian
