Slinkard was born Sept. 23, 1918, at Chaffee, son of Charles Allen and Maude Howell Slinkard. He and Agnes Marie Seabaugh were married May 25, 1946 at Cape Girardeau. He received a bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri at Columbia and an education degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He had taught vocational classes for the Veterans Administration and retired as a science teacher from Woodland High School. Slinkard was instrumental in organizing Boy Scout Troup 24 at Marble Hill, the Lions's Club and the Optimist Club. Slinkard was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Marble Hill, was active in the Methodist men's organization and participated in Mended Hearts at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He served in the Aleutian Island during World War II and received a Purple Heart while serving in the Korean War. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Bruce Wayne Slinkard and Stephen Kent Slinkard, both of Farmington; and two grandchildren. Slinkard was preceded in death by an infant daughter, six sisters and two brothers. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Tonkawa, with the Rev. Richard Thomasen officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery at Tonkawa. McCafferty-Bolick Funeral Home in Tonkawa is in charge of arrangements in Oklahoma.
I thought that Mary Catherine's sister's name was Sarah Alline. The Sarah Ann Killian, believed to be the daughter of Martin Killian, married Isaac Wilfong. Do you have any information on her?
