March 12, 1959 Ellis H. Rodgers Funeral Held Tuesday Morning Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Church east of Marble Hill for Ellis H. Rodgers, 73 years old, who died Saturday evening at 8:20 at the familly home near Scopus where he had resided the past 13 years. Rev. Verdell Jackson conducted the rites and burial was in a cemetery near St. Louis. Ward Funeral Home of Lutesville was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rodgers was born at Caldwell, Kentucky on September 22, 1886. He was married June 15, 1913, to Adelaide Gable who survives. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Church. The family moved here from St. Louis. He is survived by three children, Augustus Rodgers of St. Louis, Roscoe Rodgers of Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. Novella Harr of St. Louis; a brother, Hersom Rodgers of Canalou; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Note: "Hersom" is spelled as it appeared in the paper. I have no further information about this family.

March 12, 1959 Condition Of Accident Victim Improved The condition of Henry Williams of near Lutesville, who was injured when struck by an auto in Lutesville on February 21, is reported to be improving at the Osteopathic Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Mr. Williams, who is 62 years old, suffered a compound fracture of the right leg between the knee and ankle, a fractured pelvis, fractured left arm, a laceration of the right elbow and had some teeth knocked loose in the accident. Mr. Williams was helping to trim trees in Lutesville at the time the accident occurred.

March 12, 1959 Jackie Schneider Is Burned Seriously Jackie Schneider, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Charles Schneider, former county residents, received painful burns recently while working on an experiment in a chemistry class. Both arms and her neck and face were badly burned, and she suffered the loss of her hair in the accident. She is in a critical condition at the Sylacouga City Hospital in Sylacouga, Ala. in which city she is a student at the School of Nursing. She is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Linus C. Hahn of Lutesville.

March 12, 1959 L. B. Shrum, 75, Died Suddenly L. B. Shrum, 75 years old of Marble Hill died unexpectedly at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau where he had been a surgical patient for two weeks. His condition was improved and he was to have been dismissed from the hospital Wednesady when he suffered a heart attack and died shortly thereafter. The body is at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville and will remain there until time for service which are tentatively set for 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Crossroads Methodist Church north of Sedgewickville where he had been a member for many years. The pastor, Rev. A. W. Darter, will conduct the rites and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Shrum, a son of the late Frederick and Rachel Moran Shrum, was born September 6, 1880, on the farm in the Crossroads community where he farmed until his retirement in 1951, when he came to Marble Hill. On May 22, 1900, he was married to Mary Catherine Wills, who preceded him in death on August 4, 1956. Three sisters and five brothers also preceded him in death. He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Herbert Conrad and Mrs. David Barks of near Sedgewickville, Mrs. Loy Conrad of Perryville, and Mrs. Emil Nickel of Chicago; a son, P. L. Shrum of Marble Hill; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Rev. A. W. Darler, pastor, conducted the services and burial was in the cemetery at Sedgewickville. Mrs. Seabaugh, the former Miss Nevada Cook, was born in the Sedgewickville community. She married Amon Cook who passed away in 1958. She was a member of the Methodist Church at Sedgewickville. Mr. Bennett is a native of Bollinger County. He received his education in the Lutesville school system and old Will Mayfield College at Marble Hill. Prior to being elected sheriff in 1956, he was engaged in farming in Bollinger County and for several years was employed by a major transportation company in Cape Girardeau. He is married and the father of two children, a son, Jimmie, 15, a sophomore in Woodland High School and a daughter, Mrs. Bobby Thiele of Leopold. His wife, Mrs. Nellie Bennett, a registered nurse, has for the past two years been employed as the Bollinger County School Nurse and Bollinger County Health Unit. Mr. Bennett's military service includes 33 months overseas. If re-elected, Mr. Bennett states that the duties of the sheriff's office will be conducted as in his present term, honest, impartial, and efficient law enforcemeent. The home located one mile out of Lutesville on the Possum Creek road, was a total loss. The Lutesville Fire Department was called to the scene. The family had been called to Illinois following the death of Mr. Baugher's mother and was not at home at the time. They are now living in a house owned by Miss Stella Farmer in Lutesville, and plan to rebuild in the near future. The loss was partially covered by insurance.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at Reagan's Chapel in Bollinger County. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Limbaugh is survived by his wife, Hilda; three daughters: Aline (Mrs. Clyde Hooford) of San Diego, Calif.; Leeanna (Mrs. Bob Jones) of Patton,; Bernice (Mrs. Harold McCoy) of St. Charles; three sisters, Belle (Mrs. Milton Mosier) of Desloge; Maude (Mrs. Roy Klug) of St. Louis, Fern (Mrs. Bob Ward) of Dearborn, Michigan; two brothers: Roy Limbaugh of Patton and Ray Limbaugh of Virburnum and eight grandchildren.

Rev. Darrel Jauch was in charge of the services with interment in the Memorial Cemetery at Wardell. The daughter of the late Rufus and Lavinia Taylor, Mrs. Young was born near Benton. She was married on December 28, 1902 to Oscar C. Young, who preceded her in death March 24, 1951. A son, Marvin and a sister, also preceded her in death. Surviving are two daaughters, Mrs. Mathis, with whom she hand been making her home, and Mrs. Ralph (Wanda) Gremard of Collinsville, Illinois; two sons, Benton Young of Ypallantl, Mich. and Merriel Young, of East St. Louis, Illinois, 32 grandcchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Note: The Original Headline said "Yount" instead of "Young" but the rest of the obituary used "Young" so I'm assuming that the "Yount" was a typographical error. I have no further knowledge than appears here.
