Her death is the result of burns received the day before. No one will even know exactly how the accident occured. She was in the sitting room with the children and Mrs. Kroenke was in another room attending to her household duties and her first intimation that anything was wrong was when one of the children came running into the room where she was working, crying that Grandma's dress was on fire. Mrs. Kroenke rushed in and found Grandma still seated in the chair, with her clothing on fire, holding her hands above her head. Mrs. Kroenke immediately dispatched one of the children for her husband and she threw a quilt around the old lady to smother the flames. From the information of 5 year old Bernice Kroenke, it is supposed the old lady took a piece of paper and lite her pipe from the fire in the heating stove ! and threw down the paper, meaning to stamp it out, But her dress caught from it. So severe were the flames that the seat of her chair was burned out before the fire could be extinguished. Burial was in the Parks Cemetary. The deceased was born in Virginia 13 June 1835 and was 67. She joined the Dunkard Church when quite young. She married John Wray in Virginia and they had four daughters and four sons, all whom survive her. She came to this state with her husband and family in November 1982. Her husband was accidentially killed about six years later by having a tree fall on him. The children are: Mrs. Wm. Wallace near this city; Mrs. H. M. McCall; Mrs. Frank Spurgeon of this city; Mrs. Sarah Kroenke of Edmondson, P. R. Wray of Fairfield; S.H. Wray of Adrian; Joseph Wray of Edmondson and Ira Wray of South Dakota. -----------
