His parents moved to Benton county when he was a boy and with the exception of the time he spent in service for his county, he has lived here ever since. He enlisted in Co. F Mo. State Miltia August 14, 1863, and re-enlisted in Co. G 13th Calvary of the regular army of August 26, 1864. His organization saw service in the battles of Independence, big Blue and Mine Creek. After the close of the Civil War his regiment was ordered west where he spent nine months protecting white settlers from the Indians. About ten years later, he spent a year in Arisona driving stage between Fort Thomas and Globe. He was married February 12, 1888 to Granzela Lee Wray adn to this union three sons were born. Paul W., Carl M. and Guy S. all of whom survive him and mourn his loss. Mr. McCall was an earnest Christioan Gentleman, being an active member of the Congrgational Church of this City. Furneral services were conducted by Rev. Woodward of the Congregation Church Sunday afternoon adn interment was in Parks Cemetery. Jefferson City Capitol News, January 17, 1925: H.M. McCall Dies at Cole Camp Home: Father of Treasury Chief Clerk Passes Away After Long Illness: H. M. McCall, father of Paul McCall, chief clerk in the office of the state treasurer here, died at 8:30 o'clock last night at his home in Cole Camp, Mo., according to word received in this city soon afterwards. His son was at the bedside when the end came, having been called home several days ago. Mr. McCall who was 82 years of age, had been in poor health for many years. A few weeks ago, he suffered a paralytic stroke, since which his condition grew steadily worse. Mr. McCall was a pioneer Benton County resident and had hundreds of friends there and here who regret his death. The funeral services will take place Sunday afternoon. Sadalia Democrat, Sunday, January 25, 1925: Obituary, H. M. McCall: Frank Kaler, assistant chief of the Sedalia fire department is in receipt of a copy of the Cole Camp Courier containing a notice of the death recently of his uncle, Hannibal Marcellus McCall of Cole Camp, well known in Sedalia. Mr. McCall is the brother of Frank Kaler's mother, Mrs. Katie Kaler, and uncle of J. T. Kaler of Beaumont, Texas, the latter a former Sedalian. Cole Camp Courier, 22 January 1925, Thursday: Vol. XXXL - #29 Page 1: Col. 2: P. F. Wray of Fairfield was here Saturday morning attending the funeral of H. M. McCall. Col. 3: Paul McCall of Jefferson City, Carl of Kansas City and Guy of Dallas, Tex were here at the bedside of their father, H. M. McCall during his last illness and death. Col. 3: Card of Thanks - We wish to express our sincere thanks to our friends for the sympathy and assistance renedered us during the hour of our sad breavement in the loss of our beloved husband and father. Also thank those who sent the beautiful flowers. Mrs. G. L. McCall and family. Col. 4: H. M. McCall, aged 82 and a veteran of the Civil War passed away Friday night and was buried Sunday in the Parks Cemetery. He had been feeble for some time and his demise was not unexpected. His was a gentle, lovable character and he will be missed in our community. Col. 4: Mr. & Mrs. J. D. Freund of Sedalia were here Sunday. Col. 5: Frank Kaler of Sedalia attended the funeral of his uncle H. M. McCall. Col. 5: Mr. & Mrs. Joe Wray of Boylers Mill attended the funeral of H. M. McCall.
