"J.W.D. "Shorty" McCall passed into the great beyound last Saturday morning, after a lingering illness, aged 63. John Wilbur Duncan McCall was born in Moniteau County, October 27, 1859. (Note, year date is wrong) When he was seven or eight, he went with his parents to Cedar County, where he lived for ten years. In 1857, he came with his parents to this county, locating about five miles of Warsaw, where he lived until the war broke out. He enlisted in Company F of the 8th Missouri. At the close of the war, he located near Lincoln for a year, then went to Hickory County, where he married Miss Mollie Moore. He lost this wife and married her sister, Miss Lizzie, but she too died in the early 70's. He returned to Benton and on March 24, 1875, he married Mrs. Lousia J. Freund. They had two daughters. They moved to Cole Camp in 1882. He was well acquainted with the fundamental truths of the Bible and was a charter member of the Congreational Church in this city. He t! ook great interest in Municipal affairs. Burial in Parks Cemetery. Survived by his wife, his daughter, Mrs. A. T. Nicolson of this city, and four sisters and two brothers: Mrs Jasper Lemon of California State; Mrs Martha Cavwood of Edwards; Mrs. Kate White of Sedalia; Mrs. Jas Freund and Hannibal McCall of this city and T.H. McCall of Texas Co., MO.
