Surnames: CHARLE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SMB.2ACI/1330 Message Board Post: After several years of searching off and on for information about my grandfather's family I found the names listed for Benton County, MO. Grandfather was Hugo Robert Charle, who had lived in St.Louis, Quincy Hannibal, Fort Wayne and Chicago areas. so that is where I looked....until I saw the 1880 census, listing August Charle and his wife, three children August, Augusta, and Hugo. The father August was listed as school teacher so I am guessing he taught at a Lutheran school as well as acting as DCE and organist, etc, like Grandpa. I'd like to hear from anyone familiar with that area especially German Lutheran Churches, Schools, cemetaries, as well as city or county record-keepers of any kind. If anything is found I'd like a look-up to see if any Charle's are left there and if so, who how old and what doing. Thanks to anyone who can of! fer any help at all. dorothy
