Note: May have mistakes Cole Camp Courier April 29, 1976, Pg. 9 OBITUARY CLAUS J. STEFFENS Claus J. Steffens, 87, of Higginsville, died Sunday, April 18, 1976, at Veteran's Hospital in Kansas City. He was born May 8, 1888, at Cole Camp, a son of Henry and Anna M. Cortes Steffens. The funeral was Wednesday, April 21, at Wiegers Funeral Home, at Higginsville, Rev. Jack L. Daniel conducted the service with music by Miss Elsie Bleckschmidt, organist. Casketbearers included members of American Legion Post 223. Burial was in Higginsville City Cemetery. Friends called Tuesday evening at Wiegers Funeral Home. Mr. Steffens, a farmer, was a member of Dunksburg Christian Church. He had resided in Higginsville for about 35 years. He was an army veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion Post 223. He leaves a brother, Henry Steffens, of Independence; and several nieces and nephews. rwbrauer@iland.net
