May have mistakes Cole Camp Courier December 10, 1959, Pg. 1 Henry D. Steffens Found Dead In Home Henry D. Steffens, 72, who resides on a farm near Cole Camp, was found dead at his home Friday, December 4. Hillard Wilckens, rural letter carrier became suspicious when he noticed Mr. Steffens had not picked up his mail in his box. He notified his brother Ernest Steffens and the two went to the Steffen's home to investigate and found him dead in his bed. From all indications he passed away December 2. Funeral rites were held at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Cole Camp at 1:30 Monday afternoon with the Rev. J. L. Fisher, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Pallbearers were: Elmer Meyer, Harold Steffens, Rudolph Balke, Fred J. L. Grabau, Otto E. Luetjen and Robert Fowler. Interment was made in Cole Camp Memorial cemetery. Henry D. Steffens was born on a farm near Cole Camp on April 17, 1887, a son of John and Katherine Luetjen Steffens. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He is survived by two brothers, John W. Steffens, Lincoln and Ernest Steffens, Cole Camp; one half sister, Mrs. Maggie Meyer, Cole Camp and one half brother, George Luetjen, Cole Camp.
