Please note: Many obits contain many errors. Sedalia Democrat, Nov. 27, 2001 1936 - 2001 Ionia Ray Allen Shireman, 64, of Ionia, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. He was born July 28, 1936 in Stover, a son of Clarence and Pearl McKenzie Shireman. On Sept. 15, 1984, in Lincoln, he married Delores Brauer, who survives of the home. Mr. Shireman served in the Army for two years before his discharge on Aug. 29, 1961. After his discharge, he returned to Missouri, making his home in Ionia. For the next 40 years, he was a master brick mason, working on several commercial construction projects including the Mathewson Center, the Parkhurst mansion and several churches and schools. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Missouri Masons Union Local No. 15 for 40 years. Survivors also include a daughter, Sandra Young of Raytown; a son, John Shireman of Arma, Kan.; six stepsons; three stepdaughters; five grandchildren; and 20 step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Stover Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5925 of Lincoln. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln. The family suggests memorial contributions to VFW Post No. 5925 of Lincoln or to the Benton County Hospice. Note: Married date should have been September 5, 1984 rwbrauer@iland.net
