Sedalia Democrat COLE CAMP - Elmer Kreisel, 29, died Sunday of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Benton County Coroner John Reser, Warsaw, said Monday. Kreisel's body was discovered around 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the bedroom of his home, 4 miles east of here, by his father. Oscar Kreisel had returned from a two-hour hunting trip. The victim reportedly shot himself with a deer rifle. The incident was investigated by Benton County Sheriff's Deputy Bob Crenshaw and Reser. Crenshaw said Kreisel, an Army veteran of the Vietnam war, had previously undergone psychiatric treatment at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Columbia. He was born December 22, 1945, at Cole Camp, son of Oscar and Anna Steffens Kreisel. Additional survivors include four brothers, Albert Kreisel, Otterville; Harry Kreisel, Stockton, Mo.; Fred Kreisel, Cole Camp; and Oscar Kreisel Jr., Terre Haute, Ind.; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Bell Lang, 13171/2 East Fourth, Sedalia; Mrs. Wilbur (Minnie) Canida, Lincoln; Mrs. Steve (Mary Alice) Kraft, Big Sandy, Tex.; and Mrs. Kenneth (Helma) Wheeler, 1325 East Fourth, Sedalia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home here with Darryl Watson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 305 at the Union Cemetery here. rwbrauer@iland.net
