Cole Camp Courier, January 8, 1983 FRED STEFFENS Fred John Henry Steffens, 604 East Main Street, Cole Camp, died December 31, 1982, at the Columbia Regional Hospital in Columbia at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 28 days. He was born May 13, 1915, near Cole Camp, son of Claus Henry and Margaret Alice (Koeller) Steffens. December 1, 1940, he married Gladys Robinson and to this union was blessed with one daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Mr. Steffens was employed with the State Highway Department until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church near Cole Camp. Survivors include his wife, Gladys, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Duane (Carol) Snow, Wellsville, Mo.; two grandchildren, Brian and Stacy Snow; two sisters, Dora Payton and Irene Steffens, both of Cole Camp; a brother Elmer Steffens, Cole Camp. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. January 3, 1983, at Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church with the Rev. Eric Schillo officiating. Songs rendered were "How Great Thou Art" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Burial was in Memorial Cemetery, Cole Camp. Pallbearers were Elroy Brauer, Ray Dean Brauer, Larry Steffens, Jerry Steffens, Albert Kreisel and Harry Lee Kreisel. A prayer service was held Sunday, January 2, 1983, at 7 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp. rwbrauer@iland.net
