Memorial Paper from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, MO Cleo Ernest Pitts, Jr. It was on December 8, 1927, at Kansas City, Kansas, that the Lord blessed the home of Cleo E. and Martha (Kalebaugh) Pitts, Sr., with the gift of a son and they named him Cleo Ernest, Jr. He became a child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on December 17, 1961, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cole Camp. He publicly confessed his faith in the triune God through the Rite of Confirmation on December 17, 1961, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. On March 9, 1947, in Augusta, Georgia, he was united in marriage to Clara Sanders, who preceded him in death on May 4, 1959. On January 16, 1960, in Kansas City, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Delores Brauer, who survives of Cole Camp. He was a truck driver for over 42 years for several companies, including Consolidated Freightways where he received the Million Mile Club award three times and was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 142. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp. His health began to fail, and on February 6, 2000 he entered Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. It was there early Thursday morning that the Lord called him to his eternal rest, having been granted an earthly life of seventy-two years, two months and two days. He is survived by: four daughters, Diane Sanders of Augusta, Georgia; Brenda, Mrs. Charles Sims, of Pageland S. Carolina; Donna, Mrs. Mike Hartman of LaMonte, MO; and Ann, Mrs. Jay Fowler of Florence, MO; four sons, Tim Pitts; Cleo Pitts; Steve & his wife Theresa Pitts; and Mark & his wife Kim Pitts, all of Cole Camp; seventeen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his first wife he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Glen Pitts. rwbrauer@iland.net
