MARY STEFFENS Mrs. Mary Sophia Steffens of Cole Camp, died at 2:05 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home here at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 16 days. She had been a patient in the nursing home since November 3, 1968. She was born on a farm near Cole Camp June 16, 1879, daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Jacobsen Meyer. She was married to John Steffens, May 26, 1906. He preceded her in death Feb. 4, 1945. They were the parents of one child who died in infancy. Mrs. Steffens spent her childhood days in the Cole Camp community. She was baptized in infancy on June 28, 1879, at St. John's Lutheran Church and after due instruction in the christian faith was confirmed on April 16, 1893. The family resided on a farm for many years moving to Cole Camp in the year 1944. Survivors include one brother, Norman Meyer of Sedalia, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, where funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Walter Moose officiating. A quartet composed of Mrs. Oscar Heimsoth, Mrs. Vern Dean Case, Mrs. Milton Heimsoth and Mrs. Raymond Eckhoff sang, "For Me to Live Is Jesus" with Mrs. L. C. Schnell as organist. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rufus Harms, Gottlieb Boettjer, Mike Bauer, Marcus Meyer, Herbert Meyer and Fred Steffens.
