Cole Camp Courier December 31, 1992 Ernest F. Steffens Ernest F. Steffens died at 10:10 a.m. Dec. 28, 1992, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Cole Camp. He was 98. He was born June 3, 1894 near Cole Camp, son of John and Katherine Luetjen Steffens. He was married Feb. 19, 1922 at Lincoln to Emma Christine Mueller who preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 1962. He had been self-employed as a farmer. He lived on a farm five miles southwest of Cole Camp until Nov. 11, 1960 when he moved into Cole Camp. He moved into Good Samaritan Nursing Home on July 17, 1989. He was babtized on June 10, 1894 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln and confirmed on April 14, 1904 at Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church, Cole Camp. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at the time of his death. Survivors include three sons: Arnold Steffens of Cole Camp; Harold Steffens of Ionia; and Delbert Steffens of Sedalia. He is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one half-sister, two brothers and one half-brother. Services were to include 7-8 p.m. visitation Wednesday, Dec. 30, and a funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Rev. David Zirpel will officiate. Pallbearers are Melvin Steffens, Darrel Ehlers, Crag Otto, Jim Steffens, Caryl Froesche, and Earl Meyer. Interment will be at Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home of Cole Camp.
