May have mistakes Cole Camp Courier November 8, 1962, Pg. 1 Mrs. Ernest Steffens Funeral Rites Mrs. Emma Steffens, wife of Ernest Steffens, passed away at the Bothwell hospital, Sedalia at 8:30 Monday morning, November 5. She entered the hospital on Friday. She had been in failing health for three years. She attained the age of 69 years, 9 months and 3 days. Funeral rites were held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Lincoln at 2 o'colck Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Ernst H. R. Mueller, officiating. Pallbearers were: Herbert Steffens, Walter Peters, Elmer Meyer, Otto Luetjen, August Schnakenberg and Gottlieb Boettjer. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran cemetery, Lincoln. Mrs. Emma Christine Steffens, nee Mueller, was born at Lincoln, Mo. on February 2, 1893, a daughter of the late John and Christine Gerdts Mueller. She was babtized on February 16, 1893 and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran church on March 24, 1907. On February 19, 1922 she was united in marriage to Mr. Ernest Steffens. Three sons were born to this union. After their marriage the couple moved to a farm five miles south of Cole Camp, where they resided until November 11, 1960 when they moved to Cole Camp. Survivors include her husband of the home in Cole Camp; three sons, Arnold Steffens, Cole Camp, Harold Steffens, Ionia, and Delbert Steffens, Sedalia; five grandchildren, one sister, Carrie, Mrs. John Steffens, Lincoln and three brothers, Edwin Mueller, Arthur Mueller and Albert Mueller all of Lincoln, Mo. One sister preceded her in death. The body was at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp until 12:30 Wednesday afternoon when it was taken to Zion Lutheran Church Lincoln, to lie in state until the time of the funeral. rwbrauer@iland.net
