My grt grt grandfather was William Dawson and we believe he married a Mary Combs and they had a son also called William in Benton Co., MO. I have a census with Mary Combs living with the Dawson family probably just before they married. Mary must have died before the next census was taken, prob. either when William was born or shortly afterward. William was married again to a Lucy Malcom.
