Is it possible to find adoption records in Benton county for folks in the 19th century. My great grandfather John T. Johnson, is listed in the 1880 census of Union, Benton co.; as John T. Glenlock, (age 3, born in TX) orphaned child in the household of George W. & Misnire Johnson. In the 1910 census of Toppenish, Yakima, Washington, he is listed with his parents as an adopted son. I now understand that John was Osage. He and my great-grandmother, Cora Fitzpatrick, were only married a short time, but the did have two children. By the way, I believe that Misnire, wife of George W. Johnson, was nee Hobbs, dau. of Jacob and Rebecca Hobbs. Thanks. Christopher Barttels Dayton, WA
