I don't have notes on Sarah to indicate "why" I have her listed as "Sarah Rebecca Smith West" and neither did I know who her parents were. I supposed who they were, but didn't have the proof. I have done some correspondence in the past with some people on the WEST family, so perhaps that is where that part came from. I am glad to have it clear. It is always good to have things corrected so that those interested will have the correct info. I am including the notes that I have in my database on what info I had on both of John's families. Walthall, 80, February 19, 1929. Mr. Walthall was born November 25, 1848 on a farm on Turkey Creek, east of Dell, and spent the greater part of his life south of the river. He belonged to the sturdy stock of early days and was honest and kind. He married Sarah Adeline Purnell in 1870, who died, leaving him five children: Mrs. Mary Edwards, Mrs. Lemuel Dickenson, Claude Walthall, Warsaw; Creede Walthall, Kansas City; Mrs. Myrtle Edwards, Macon, Georgia. Later he married Miss Sarah Smith and they had these children: W. D., (of) Edwards; Mrs. George Jones, Lincoln; Mrs. Dossie Groomer, Warsaw; Mrs. Hurd Martin, Neligh, Nebraska; J.R., Cross Timbers; George, Nevada and Floyd, of the U.S. Navy. One brother, J.H., also survives. Five grandsons were pallbearers: Glenn Groomer, Dean and Wilbur Dickenson, Cal Wilson, Leonard Walthall, also Buel Hughes.> Vol 3, page 241: Mrs. Lem Dickenson: Rebecca Walthall Dickenson, daughter of John W. and Adeline Purnell Walthall, was born near Cross Timbers November 8, 1872 and died November 27, 1952 in Lake Charles, La. She married Lemuel W. Dickenson December 21, 1892. The family moved to Warsaw in 1915 and Mr. Dickenson was a partner in the Walthall and Dickenson Livery and Feed Company, located in what was later the Warsaw Produce building. Mr. Dickenson died July 31, 1930. Six children survived Mrs. Dickenson: Harper of Hutchinson, Kansas; Mrs. Zella Wightman, Sylvia, Kansas; Vernie and Lawrence, Folla, Kansas; Dean, Wichita, Kansas; and Mrs. Clyde See, Lake Charles, La. Two sons, Doak and Wilbur, preceded her in death.
