In 1871 he married Malinda, Ashel's daughter. They had two children, Ida and Liddie. When Liddie was born Mr McNett took the girl home with him. Zirie went to the home and after a hot quarrel used a knife on the old man. Mr McNett lived but never fully recovered. After being held for a time in the Warsaw jail, Zirie disappeared.
