Hi Homer; I looked up Wm. Kays (Kayes) who has always been listed in later censuses in Fristoe Twp. and found him in Cole Twp. for the 1840 census, so I guess part of Cole became Fristoe Twp. He never moved off his 119+ acres which is listed as Twp. 40 N and range 21 W on the BLM records. The land office when he bought in 1844 (signature date) was in Springfield, but his son and daughter both bought land in the same twp. and range and the land office was in Warsaw.
