Surnames: Thomas, Frost, Guy and Logan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SMB.2ACI/1374.1.1 Message Board Post: Laurie, thank you so much. Even though you did not find a hit, it helps to know that. Thank you for the other information. I will follow up on it. There is a newspaper notice that basically says, someone came to Warsaw to get a casket for Ben Guy's mother who had moved four years ago from Illinois and that she was near 100 years old. I was just hoping if she came to Benton Co. 4 years ago, she might be listed in the 1900 census as this was 1902. Thanks again for looking for me. Mary Frost Akers

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SMB.2ACI/1374.1 Message Board Post: Mary, I did a little checking for you today. I did not find Matilda Thomas in the 1900 census in any of those counties under her name for the age of 92 or 100, there were 3 I believe and the oldest was in mid 80's I believe.. I also looked up Logan, Webster and Guy names for that year and those counties but did not find a hit for Matilda. I did find Benjamin Guy and his wife Martha on the 1910 Benton Cty, Fristoe TWP census living with their daughter and son-in-law and their family assumed it was their daughter as it says the Guy's are mother & father-in-law to the head William Webster 43, wife Mary 37, their son Verl (?) 19, and their daughter Goldie 9. There was a Matilda Thomas 86 in 1900 living in Decker TWP, Richland County, Illinois, living with John Mickey and his family, she was born in KY. Also in the St. Louis Mo. Directory for 1889-1890 there was a Matilda A. Webster, widow of William L. Webster living on r.104 S. Jefferson Ave., St. Louis, Mo. in the year 1890. I don't know if any of this information is helpful.

She would be quite elderly and perhaps living with a family named Guy or Webster or Logan or associated family. I believe she is the mother of Benjamin Guy but later married a Thomas. She had several family members living in Benton and Hickory Co. There is a newspaper clipping saying"the mother of Ben Guy died, nearly 100, in 1902." According to my records she would be about 92, not 100, but I am looking for any clues and would be very grateful. Mary Frost Akers

    1. ZIMMERSCHIED
    2. Hazelwood
    3. Hello, I am researching my ZIMMERSCHIED family in the Pettis/Benton County Missouri areas. In my research I have found that there are two distinct and maybe different ZIMMERSCHIED families which at this time I cannot connect to each other and I was hoping someone out there would know if they connect and where they connect. Here is the information on the two families that I have. First ZIMMERSCHIED family (from which I descend) John Adam ZIMMERSCHIED b. 20 April 1806 Nassau, Germany d. 3 August 1861 Bebra, Pettis County who married Maria Philippine EBERHAN in Germany. John Adam and Maria Phillippine came to America circa 1854 and they had 7 children that I know of--they were: Johann William ZIMMERSCHIED (married a SCHUPP) b. 14 Oct. 1845 Caroline Catherine ZIMMERSCHIED(married a CALLIES) b. 16 August 1847 Katherine Henrietta ZIMMERSCHIED (married a SCHUPP) b.22 Dec. 1849 Henrietta Elizabeth ZIMMERSCHIED b. 24 June 1853 and died as a infant Meriah Caroline ZIMMERSCHIED (married a KREISEL) b. 8 June 1855 Carl Frederick Adolph ZIMMERSCHIED (married a SCHAPER) b. 14 November 1857 George Adam ZIMMERSCHIED (married a TRAUGETT) b. 21 November 1861 Second ZIMMERSCHIED family Ferdinand ZIMMERSCHIED b. 24 June 1812 supposedly in Germany-not sure d. 18 Feb. 1867 who married Phillipine YOST. They supposedly came to America circa 1840. Ferdinand and Phillipine had 10 or 11 children that I know of--they were: John Adam ZIMMERSCHIED (married a SCHUPP) b. 9 August 1835 Schanett ZIMMERSCHIED Phillip ZIMMERSCHIED Henrietta ZIMMERSCHIED (married a SCHUPP) Louis/Lewis ZIMMERSCHIED Lucinda ZIMMERSCHIED Frederick ZIMMERSCHIED( 1st married a YOST, 2nd married a (SCHUPP) John Ferdinand ZIMMERSCHIED (1st married a HUNTER, 2nd married a ROSENBURY) b. 11 Dec 1849 Betty ZIMMERSCHIED Lizzie ZIMMERSCHIED Carl ZIMMERSCHIED(married a SCHAPER) b. 4 Nov. 1857 Were John Adam ZIMMERSCHIED and Ferdinand ZIMMERSCHIED brothers? Any information would be greatly appreciated Sheri Hazelwood hazelwood@atlantic.net

From the census it appears that James Henry's father was James Todd born circa 1809 in Kentucky and his mother was Sarah (Unknown) born circa 1808 Kentucky. It has been said this Todd family came from Madison County, Kentucky, but haven't found any proof. Also it has been said the Todd's are of Cherokee Indian descent. I had heard that Ethel Todd Wilson supposedly had applied for Cherokee recognition. If you have any information on this family please contact me at wmtres@yahoo.com

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SMB.2ACI/1369 Message Board Post: These three pictures are of my Steffens family's cabin. Great-great-grandma Rebecca Schuette Steffens proved the homestead after her husband Claus Heinrich Steffens died. She raised his three children, and their one son, Henry Steffens in this cabin. It is a one room log home, much like other pioneers built. It had a loft where the children slept and they stored food up there, and in the celler. The celler was not under the house, I don't think. In the lower level, they had a bed, table and chairs, wood cook stove, and spinning wheel and other things. It was very small, but great-great grandma died in this home, and my grandmother was born in this home. There was much love and no TV. I can just see my three sons living in this cabin with me. They'd be bored to death. The two ladies in the B&W picture are Maggie Koeller Steffens (m. to Henry, above) and Mary Koeller Haase. Mary was Maggie's aunt, and Mary was the twin sister of Maggie's mother. These two look more like sisters than aunt and niece. Please post your family cabins. Denise Brauer Hoehns
