    1. [MOBENTON-L] 1840 Benton Census, cont'd
    2. The first List email "broke" the website URL (address) and some had problems getting there. If so, you can also go to Ed Mackley's home page, and use the census link there: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mackley/index.htm He has also added subtitles to indicate the township divisions, for those who know their ancestor's area. In 1845, Montgomery Twp became part of Hickory County and Niangua part of Camden County, and Tom, Fristoe, Union Townships were apparently created at that time. We are attempting to determine which townships included the latter in 1840. Homer Ficken, Benton GenWeb

    1. [MOBENTON-L] 1840 Benton Co Census
    2. An act of rare generosity has occurred: Ed Mackley, after a year's preparation has provided online images of the 1840 census for all Missouri counties, and 1830 as well for those counties then in existence! The 1840 Benton images can be reached at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mackley/1840MoCoImageLinksPages/Bento n40ImagesPage.htm (And if you have interests in other counties, they can be reached from there) A link has also been added on the Misc Benton County Records page of Benton GenWeb site. Mo Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Benton/11052 Surname: SWEARNGIN, BROWN, ESTEP ------------------------- I believe that the school was named after a local family with the last name of "Feaster". There were a number of them that lived in the area. The school sits right on what I have always known as "Feaster Branch", a small arm off the Lake of the Ozarks. The school building still stands, but has been converted into a home. Steve Swearngin

    2. Sue Krezelak
    3. Posted on: Benton Co. Mo Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Mo/Benton/11042 Surname: ------------------------- Thanks, Bob, this could very well be the cemetary, but was in my mind that it was right off the highway as we were heading north. We had talked to an old gentleman and his wife named Meuschke that lived south of Fortney. He told us that the school had been used as a church and that there was a very old burial ground across from the school (it could have been up a way). Anyway, it was so overgrown with brush, that I didn't go in. I cannot find my gggrandparents, William and Sarah Williams Berry and thought they might be there. Is Hwy F the old Springfield wagon road? A relative told me there was a burial ground on it. Sarah and William should be at Williams-Union Cemetary, but have never found a stone. Wish there was an early list of interrments but do not think one exists. Are you related to Agnes Stewart Owens and the Holloways? Sue K.
