Can anyone give me more information on this family? Where were they in 1870? Stella, You wrote, "Looking for the parents of my gr-grandmother, Fannie Carpenter Delozier, whose father was named William. Mother's name unknown. She had a brother John who married her sister in law, Mary Carpenter. Fannie would have been born in 1862. Have been searching for years and any help appreciated." I, too, have been trying to make a connection with this family. I do know William P. Carpenter of Benton County married Virginia Foster Brown. Missouri being a neutral border state in the Civil War, William stayed home to protect his family. Union forces were in control of the area and they killed him after calling him out to the road to ask directions. His widow, Virginia, latter married W. J. Duckworth and in about 1874, they moved to Texas in a covered wagon with her sons and daughters. W. J. died in Lancaster, Texas and Virginia died in Ellis County. This is from James Carpenter's book. CARPENTER, WILLIAM P. State: MO Year: 1860 County: Benton County Record Type: Federal Population Schedule Township: Warsaw P.O. Page: 297 Database: MO 1860 Federal Census Index I was born in Lancaster, Texas and believe John of this family to be my great-great grandfather. He married Carrie Mae Graham in Ellis County, Texas. I really want to know more about Mary, possibly his first wife. Please write to me at [email protected] Thank you, Charlotte

I don't recognize the Edwards mentioned in this and previous message. But there are many Edwards families in western Camden Co. They are not in my line but in the back of my memory it seems something about some of the family being in Benton County. They are an old family and a query placed in CAmden Co. could explore this further. Hoy Young
