Cole Camp Courier July 7, 1988 Rosie Haase Rosie (Tillie) Haase, 73, MarGene Guest Home, formerly of Cole Camp, died Friday morning July 1, 1988, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born July 14, 1914, south of Cole Camp, daughter of Bernhardt and Louise Koeller Schutte. On September 12, 1940, in Warsaw, she married Rudolph Haase, who died April 14, 1982. Mrs. Haase was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cole Camp. Survivors include a sister, Dora Haase, Cole Camp; three brothers, Amos Schutte, Boliver, Mo.; F.A. Schutte, Smithton; Fred Schutte, Cole Camp; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Sunday, July 3, 1988 at the church with the Rev. Harvey Hendrickson and Vicar Marc Quintavella officiating. Pallbearers were Harry Brauer, John Meyer, Larry Haase, Doug Haase, Don Haase and Warren Schutte. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cole Camp Courier, August 27, 1970 ERNEST WILLIAM WILSHUSEN Ernest William Wilshusen was born at Edmonson, Mo., April 25, 1902, the son of the late Jacob and Anna Harms Wilshusen. His life was spent in the Edmonson community. On March 12, 1937 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Schutte. Mr. and Mrs. Wilshusen resided on a farm near Edmonson. He passed away at Lakeview Heights, Lincoln, Route 2, at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, August 18 at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 23 days. Death was due to accidental drowning. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Wilshusen of the home, and one sister, Mrs. Emma Meyer, Lincoln, Route 2. Funeral services were held at 1:15 Thursday afternoon, August 20 at the Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wm. Medler officiating. The church choir sang, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross." Pallbearers were Roland Kerksiek, Alvin Pritzel, Lawrence Lutjen, Olaf Lutjen, Rufus Harms and Norman F. Meyer. Interment was in the Mt. Hulda Cemetery under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home. She was born near Cole Camp, September 13, 1912, daughter of Benhardt and Louise (Koeller) Schutte. September 14, 1912, she was baptized at Mt. Hulda and confirmed May 15, 1927, also at Mt. Hulda. On March 12, 1937, she married Ernest Wilshusen, who died August 18, 1970. Others preceding her in death were her parents and one sister. Survivors include two sisters, Rosie (Mathildia) Haase and Mrs. Louis (Dora H. ) Haase, both of Cole Camp; three brothers, Amos Schutte, Bolivar, Fredinand Schutte, Smithton, and Fred Schutte, Cole Camp. She was a member of Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 20, with the Rev. Arnold Heimsoth officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Hulda Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lawrence Luetjen, Arthur Luetjen, Olaf Lutjen, Roland Kerksiek, Woodrow Bayless and Don Kyle. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. April 19 at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp. Cole Camp Courier March 4, 1993, Pg. 8 Amos John Henry Schutte Amos John Henry Schutte of Cole Camp died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Cole Camp. He was 83. He was born July 29, 1909, in the Mt. Hulda community, son of Bernhard and Louise Koeller Schutte. He was a farm laborer who never married. He had entered Good Samaritan Nursing Home on Jan. 10, 1992. Amos Schutte was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, having been baptised Aug. 22, 1909, at Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church and confirmed March 25, 1923 at Mt. Hulda Lutheran. Survivors include one sister, Dora (Mrs. Louis) Haase, Cole Camp; and one brother, F.A. Schutte of Smithton, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Rev. Marvin Ulmer and Vicar Daniel Rhodes officiated at the funeral service for Amos John Henry Schutte at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Congregational singing of "Rock of Ages" was included in the ceremony. Burial was in the New Trinity Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Brauer, Larry Haase, Douglas Haase, John Meyer, Warren Schutte, Don Haase and Jeff Lutjen. Arrangements were under the direction of Fox Funeral Home of Cole Camp.     3. Please note: Many obits contain many errors. Cole Camp Courier, May 18, 1933 BERNHARDT SCHUTTE DEAD Bernhardt Schutte, a well known farmer of the Mt. Hulda neighborhood, died early Monday morning at 1:05 o'clock at his home following a lingering illness. He had reached the age of 64 years, 1 month and 10 days. Mr. Schutte was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schutte and was born near Mt. Hulda on January 1, 1869. There he spent his youth on the farm. He was married to Miss Louisa Koeller about twenty-three years ago. The union was blessed with seven children: Amos at home, Anna, Mrs. Rudolph Haase of Mt. Hulda; Emma, Tilda, Fred and Dora, all of the home and Ferdinand of Sedalia. Besides the children he is survived by one grandchild and one brother, Frederich Schutte of Mt. Hulda. His wife preceded him in death about twelve years ago. The funeral services were held at the Mt. Hulda Lutheran church at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon conducted by the Rev. W.O. Petzoldt. Steffens, passed away at his home 7 miles south of Cole Camp Thursday morning, September 21 at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 2 days. Funeral services were held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the Eickhoff Funeral Home and 2:00 o'clock at the Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church south of Cole Camp with the Rev. O. Heimsoth officiating. Pallbearers were: Fred Koeller, Albert Koeller, Florence Koeller, Lawrence Koeller, Clarence Koeller and Fred Schutte. Interment was made in the Mt. Hulda Lutheran Cemetery. Claus Henry Steffens was born on a farm in the Mt. Hulda community south of Cole Camp on October 19, 1877. He was a son of the late Claus and Rebecca Schutte Steffens. His entire life was spent on the farm where he was born. He was baptized November 17, 1877, and confirmed in the Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church on March 15, 1914. On May 5, 1912 he was united in marriage with Maggie Koeller. This union was blessed with five children. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Steffens of the home: two sons, Fred Steffens and Elmer Steffens; three daughters, Mrs. Dora Brauer, Anna, Mrs. Oscar Kreisel and Miss Irene Steffens, all of Cole Camp; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Steffens Funeral Rites Mrs. Margaret Alice Steffens, widow of the late Claus Henry Steffens of Cole Camp, passed away at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Stover at 12:30 Monday afternoon, February 6, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 16 days. Mrs. Steffens suffered a stroke on December 4 and entered the Bothwell hospital in Sedalia for treatment. On January 13, she was transferred to the Golden Age Nursing Home in Stover in the Fox ambulance. Funeral services were held at 1:15 Wednesday afternoon, February 8 at the Fox Funeral Chapel, Cole Camp and at 2 o'clock at the Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church south of Cole Camp with the Rev. William Schultz, officiating. The church choir sang "Nearer My God To Thee" and the congregation sang "Abide With Me." Pallbearers were: Ray Dean Brauer, Albert Kreisel, Dwight Beeson, Harry Lee Kreisel, Duane Snow and Ray Roark. Interment was in the Mt. Hulda Lutheran Cemetery. Margaret Alice Steffens, nee Koeller, was born three miles east of Cole Camp on August 20, 1881, daughter of the late John and Dorothy Gardner Koeller. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Monsees Lutheran Church on May 17, 1896. On May 5, 1912 she was united in marriage to Claus Henry Steffens. The couple resided on farms in the Cole Camp community and since 1942 on a farm 12 miles south of Cole Camp. Mr. Steffens preceded her in death on September 21, 1961. Five children were born to this union. Survivors include two sons, Fred Steffens, Cole Camp and Elmer Steffens of the home; two daughters, Miss Irene Steffens of the home and Dora, Mrs. Lee Payton of Cole Camp; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one sister, Dora, Mrs. Ernest Kohrs, Cole Camp and three brothers, Charles Koeller, Cole Camp, Louis Koeller, Sedalia and Theodore Koeller, Little Rock, Arkansas.     3. Please note: Many obits contain many errors. Cole Camp Courier July 2, 1992, Pg. 5 Fred John Koeller Fred John Koeller of Cole Camp, died 9 p.m. June 23, 1992 at his home. He was 80. Mr. Koeller was born Aug. 6, 1911 near Cole Camp, son of Charley Frederick and Louise Young Koeller. On March 16, 1947, he was married in Mora, Mo. to Leora Zimmerschied, who survives. He is also survived by three sisters --Dora Myers of Sedalia, Nora Scheerer of Stover and Clara Skinner of Sedalia; one brother, Clarence Koeller of Cole Camp. He was preceded in death by one brother and one stepbrother. He was a farmer of his own land and also a local school bus driver for 10 years. He spent his life a resident of rural Cole Camp and moved at his current address in 1970. An Army veteran of World War II, he belonged to American Legion Post 305, Cole Camp. Baptized Aug. 25, 1911, he was a member of the United Lutheran Church of Cole Camp. Services for Fred John Koeller were at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, at United Lutheran Church with the Rev. Duane Levin officiating. Songs were "Beautiful Savior" and "Children of The Heavenly Father." Interment was in Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alvin Koeller, Raymond Metscher, Wayne Balke, Mike Intelmann, Larry Tobaben and Frank Kreisel. Cole Camp Courier, December 11, 1958 Mrs. Louisa Koeller Funeral Rites Mrs. Louisa Koeller passed away at the Campbell Rest Home in Sedalia at 3:30 o'clock Friday morning at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 19 days. She had been ill the past two months and had entered the rest home three weeks ago. Funeral services were held at the Eickhoff Funeral Home at 1:20 Monday afternoon, with the Rev. Arthur E. Schmidt, pastor of the United Ev. Lutheran Church, officiating. Mrs. Della Gasperson sang, "Whispering Hope" and "In The Garden," playing her own accompaniment. Mrs. Louisa Koeller, nee Young was born on a farm in the Mt. Hulda community south of Cole Camp on March 16, 1879. She was a daughter of the late Isiac and Adelheid Schutte Young. She was baptized in infancy. In 1898 she was united in marriage with Bill Lafayette. One son was born to this union. Mr. Lafayette preceded her in death. On October 28, 1906 she was united in marriage with Charles Koeller. The couple resided on a farm in the Cole Camp community until 1948 when they moved to Cole Camp. Six children were born to this union. She is survived by her husband, Charles Koeller of the home in Cole Camp; one son Richard Lafayette by the first marriage and three sons, Fred Koeller, Florence Koeller and Clarence Koeller all of Cole Camp and three daughters, Dora, Mrs. John Buckley of Ames, Iowa; Nora, Mrs. J.E. KOELLER Charley Fredrich Koeller of this city died at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, at the Bothwell Hospital of Sedalia, where he had been a patient since March 4. He had attained the age of 92 years, 10 months and 20 days. Mr. Koeller was born on a farm near Cole Camp on April 19, 1879, a son of the late John and Dora Gardner Koeller. On October 28, 1906, he married Louise Young, who preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 1958. This union was blessed with six children, three sons and three daughters.     3. Please note: Many obits contain many errors. Cole Camp Courier, January 24, 1963 Mrs. Gesena Koeller Dies At Age 90 Mrs. Gesena Maria Koeller, widow of the late John H. Koeller, passed away at her home three miles south of Cole Camp at 1:30 Saturday afternoon, January 19, at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 20 days. She had been in failing health for the past eight years. Funeral services were held at 1:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. J.W. Boehne, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Pallbearers were: Alfred Brockman, Ernest Kohrs, Emil Harms, Lawrence Koeller, Fred Koeller and Fred Steffens. Interment was in the Monsees Lutheran cemetery south of Cole Camp. Mrs. Gesena Maria Koeller was born May 20, 1872 at Cole Camp, Missouri, a daughter of the late Peter and Louisa Haushild Kohrs. She was baptized in infancy. Her entire life was spent in the Cole Camp community. On November 13, 1891 she was united in marriage to Mr. Dietrich Boettjer. Four children were born to this union. A daughter, Beta, died at the age of two years. Mr. Boettjer preceded her in death on May 9, 1904. On March 8, 1914 she was united in marriage to John H. Koeller. The couple resided on a farm near Cole Camp. To this union one son was born. Mr. Koeller preceded her in death on April 21, 1955. Survivors include one son, Ferdinand Boettjer, Cole Camp; two daughters, Mary, Mrs. Albert Metscher of the home, and Mrs. Frank Kohlmetz of Waukesha, Wisconsin, children of the first marriage and one son, Albert Koeller of the home, by the second marriage, one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp. I find her fathers obituary, first, in Cole Camp Courier, dated April 14, 1904. His name is Peter Kohrs, dying of erysipelas after being ill eight days. All the following comes from this obituary: born Hanover, GER, came to USA 1871, arriving in New Orleans, staying there about 3 months. Then he arrived in Benton county, staying here till his death. Married in GER, but wife passed away in 1874. Then he married Miss Mary Kruse, who survived, along with two children from first marriage, Mrs. Dick Boettjer and Gerdt Henry Kohrs (Ernest's father). Buried Monsees cemetery. Then I find a thank you for help, and etc. at the death of their mother, Mary Kohrs, signed by the families of Henry Kohrs, and Mrs. John Koeller. Koeller, who passed away at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21 at the Community Rest Home in Sedalia, were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home and the Monsees Lutheran Church, southeast of Cole Camp. The Rev. H.J. Gerike conducted the services. Mrs. L.C. Schnell and Miss Erna Muller with L.C. Schnell as organist, sang appropriate hymns. Pallbearers were: Amos Schutte, Fred Koeller, Elmer Steffens, Lawrence Koeller, William Kohrs and Clarence Koeller. Interment was made in the Monsees Lutheran cemetery. John H. Koeller was born on January 22, 1878, on a farm 5 miles northwest of Cole Camp, a son of the late John Koeller and Henrietta Gardner. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran church. On March 7, 1914 he united in marriage with Mrs. Sena Boettjer. The couple resided on a farm near Cole Camp. One son was born to this union. Mr. Koeller had been in failing health for the past four years and was a patient in the Community Rest Home in Sedalia a week. He attained the age of 76 years, 9 months and 1 day. His entire life was spent on a farm near Cole Camp. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sena Koeller, one son Albert Koeller, Cole Camp; three step-children, Ferdinand Boettjer of Cole Camp; Mary, Mrs. Albert Metscher, Cole Camp and Emelia, Mrs. Frank Kohlmetz of Warsaw, Wisc.; one step-grandchild and one step-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Steffens and Mrs. Ernest Kohrs, both of Cole Camp, and three brothers, Charles Koeller, Cole Camp, Louis Koeller, Fred Koeller and Ernest Koeller, all of Sedalia. Haase of this city died suddenly at 1:26 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia at an age of 67 years, 9 months and 5 days. She entered the hospital on November 20 due to a heart condition. She was born at Graham, Mo., on February 26, 1904, daughter of the late Andrew and Dianna Williams Modie. When she was 4 her parents moved to Cole Camp and later moved to Bolchow, Mo. On November 16, 1922, she married William Haase, who survives of the home. This union was blessed with one daughter. After their marriage the family resided in Cole Camp, later moving to Sedalia where they made their home for 16 years, moving back to Cole Camp in 1962. She was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Cole Camp. Besides her widower, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Ruby) Morris, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Roberts, Blue Springs; Mrs. Loren (Julia) Johnson, Banning, Calif.; three brothers brothers, Frank Modie, Tacoma, Wash.; George Modie, Lakin, Kan.; and two grandchildren. One half-sister and one half-brother preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the United Lutheran Church with the Rev. Merlin Sjoberg officiating. Cole Camp Courier July 5, 1984; Pg. 6 WILLIAM HAASE William Haase, 85, Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Cole Camp, died Saturday morning, June 30, 1984, at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital, Las Vegas. He was born October 17, 1898, in Benton County, son of Johann and Marie Gaertner Haase. On November 16, 1922, he married Juanita Modie, who died in 1971. Mr. Haase was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, and had worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad unti he retired. He is survived by a daughter, Ruby Krisel, Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Funeral servics were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Donald Love officiating. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery, Cole Camp. Pallbearers were Calvin Haase, Ralph Haase, Richard Haase, Robert Haase, Lowell D. Viebrock and Bob Haase. Cole Camp Courier July 29, 1982; Pg. 11 ELMO HAASE Elmo Alvin Elmer Haase, Route 2, Cole Camp, died July 26, 1982, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Mo., at the age of 53 years, 6 months and 22 days. He was born January 4, 1929, near Cole Camp the son of Ernest Frederich and Augusta (Lutjen) Haase. He was baptized January 13, 1929, at the Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church by Rev. W. P. Petzoldt. His confirmation at the same parish was on May 14, 1942, by the Rev. E. J. Dueber. Mr. Haase was preceded in death by his father and one brother. He is survived by his mother, Augusta, of Cole Camp; one sister, Mrs. Omar (Marguerite) Uptegrove, Cole Camp; four brothers, Ralph Haase, Cole Camp, Calvin Haase, Lincoln, Robert Haase, Omaha, Nebraska, and Richard Haase of Millard, Nebraska. Prayer services were held Wednesday, July 28, at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at the Fox Funeral Home, the Rev. Linda Daniels-Block officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Cole Camp. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Eckhoff, J. C. Walthall, Hilmer Heimsoth, Elmer Bruns, Harold Hesse, and Laverne Burton. Cole Camp Courier, June 6, 1928 Obituary Edwin Marven Henry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Haase was born March 3, 1927, and died Thursday night, June 21, at 7 o'clock. He was laid to rest Friday afternoon in Mt. Hulda cemetery. He reached the age of 1 year, 3 months and 18 days. His ailings were whooping cough and bronchitis. He leaves to mourn his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Haase, and one brother, Ralph, both grandmothers and one great grandmother. The pallbearers were Emil Bruns, Lawrence Schumacher, Albert and Lawrence Haase. The Rev. W. Haase Augusta Josephine Haase, age 94, of Cole Camp, died early Wednesday morning at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Cole Camp. She was born November 21, 1903, near Cole Camp, a daughter of Henry and Sophia Bruns Luetjen. She was united in marriage to Ernest F. Haase on February 14, 1924, and he preceded her in death on October 3, 1965. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cole Camp. Survived by one daughter, Maguerite Uptegrove, of Cole Camp, Mo; four sons, Robert Haase of Fremont, NE, Richard Haase of Papillion, NE, Ralph Haase and Calvin Haase, both of Cole Camp, MO; twenty-two grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, forty-nine great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and twelve step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 6, 1998, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, MO with the Rev. Randal Ehrichs and Vicar Wade Seaver officiating. Burial will be in Union Williams Cemetery, Cole Camp. Prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening with visitation following. Haase, World War I veteran, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Kansas City at 12:15 Sunday afternoon, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 12 days. He had been a patient in the hospital since September 1, where he underwent major surgery September 21. Funeral services were held (today) Thursday at 2 o'clock, at the Fox Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Frank Nelson, pastor of the Methodist Church officiating. Lyle Webb, soloist, sang, "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Take My Hand Precious Lord' with Mrs. A.W. Hampy as organist. Pallbearers were: Rudy Haase, Albert Haase, Donald Gene Haase, James Garr, Jr., Frankie Kreisel and Ervin Bugh. Burial was in the Union cemetery, south of Cole Camp. Military services were held under the auspices of Abraham Lincoln Post 305, Cole Camp. Ernest Frederick Haase, was born April 21, 1896 in the Mt. Hulda community, south of Cole Camp. He was a son of the late John and Mary Gardner Haase. His early life was spent on the farm. On February 14, 1923, he was married to Miss Augusta Lutjen. The couple resided on a farm near Cole Camp. Seven children were born to this union. In April, 1960, the family moved to Cole Camp. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Augusta Haase of the home in Cole Camp; five sons, Ralph Haase, Elmo Haase and Calvin Haase, all of Cole Camp; Robert Haase of Omaha, Nebraska and Richard Haase of Millard, Nebraska, and one daughter, Marguerite, Mrs. Omar Uptegrove, Cole Camp, sixteen grandchildren and one brother, William Haase, Cole Camp.
