Cole Camp Courier, May 6, 1971 SUSIE FLORA HAASE Susie Flora Haase was born January 27, 1912 at Cole Camp, Missouri to Henry A. and Della Morris Fowler. She departed this life on April 23, 1971 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa after a lingering illness, at the age of 59 years, two months and 26 days. Her childhood and school days were spent at Cole Camp, Missouri. On June 18, 1933 she was united in marriage to Lawrence John Haase; from this union two children were born; a son L. J. Haase Jr. and a daughter Bette Ann. She had lived in Allerton, Iowa since June of 1965. She was always devoted to her family and was a kind and loving mother and wife. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Lawrence, her son L. J. Jr. of Allerton, her daughter Bette Fowler of Kansas City, Missouri, three granddaughters, Kathie Jo and Laurie Ann of Friend, Nebraska and Kustine of Kansas City, Missouri and one grandson John D. of Allerton, three sisters Ruby Nilson, Ann Smarr, and Ruth Speich of Kansas City, Missouri, one brother Bob Fowler of Cole Camp, Missouri, one daughter-in-law Beverly Sue, one son-in-law Donald, five nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and three sisters Senith, Francis and Inez. Services were held from the Randolph Funeral Home on Sunday April 25, 1971 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. John Braden officiating. Hymns were sung by Mrs. John Braden with the pianist Mrs. Winnie Beavers. The pall bearers were Irven Carter, Gary Langloss, Edward Speich, Michael Speich and Larry Fowler. HAASE Lawrence John Haase, 209 East Mason, LaMonte, Missouri, and a former resident of Cole Camp, passed away early Sunday morning, December 21, 1980, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Sedalia. He attained the age of 69 years and 14 days. He was born December 7, 1911, at Mt. Hulda, Mo., son of the late Dietrich and Anna Margaret Ehlers Haase. Lawrence was baptized December 17, 1911, and confirmed May 25, 1925. He graduated from Trinity Lutheran School and Cole Camp High School, attended college at Warrensburg, Mo., and taught school at Ross Creek and Kreisel Grade Schools. He was also employed as a roadmaster for the Rock Island Railroad for 44 years, retiring in March 1975. In 1933 he married Susie Fowler and she preceded him in death in April 1971. October 1971 he married Pearl McBee, who survives of the home. Other survivors include two children, Lawrence J. Haase, Jr., Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Mrs. Donald (Bette Ann) Fowler, Kearney, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kathie and Laurie Haase, Lincoln, Nebraska, Joeh Dietrich Haase, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Kristy, Mellissa and Chad Fowler, Kearney, Missouri; four step-children, Kenneth McBee, Gale McBee and Donald McBee of Lamar, Colorado, and Mrs. Leonard Bauer of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; 11 step-grandchildren and five great-step grandchildren. Lawrence was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, where services were held Monday, December 22, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. A. J. Wollenburg officiating. Pallbearers were Leland Pritzel, Calvin Balke, Calvin Haase, Ralph Haase, Cletus Pritzel and Alvin Pritzel. Burial was in Allerton Cemetery, Allerton, Iowa, where graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 23. The body was at the Fox Funeral Home 9 in Cole Camp.     3. Please note: Many obits contain many errors. Cole Camp Courier, December 1, 1932 MRS. LOUIS F. HAASE DEAD Died From Burns Received in Fire At Her Home in Plattsburg. Relatives received word here the first part of last week stating that Mrs. Louis F. Haase of Plattsburg, Mo., had passed away in the General Hospital in Kansas City on Sunday, November 20, 1932 from burns received the day before while starting a fire with coal oil at her home in Plattsburg. The funeral was held Wednesday of the last week at Macedonia, Mo. Those from Cole Camp attending the funeral were Ernest Kohrs, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Haase and Gesche Haase. Virgie Jewel Haase, nee Weaver, was born October 20, 1911 near White Cloud, Mo. On January 23, 1930 she was united in marriage to Louis F. Haase of Cole Camp. To this union was born one son, Warren Eugene, who at present is in a hospital in Kansas City also suffering from burns. The child is reported to be in a serious condition. Mrs. Haase is survived by her grief-stricken husband and one son of Plattsburg; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Weaver, and four sisters and one brother: Cleo, John and Fairy Weaver of Bentonville, Mrs. Eulah Butler and Mrs. Faye Butler of near Weatland, Mo. Mrs. Haase was well known in this community having spent most of her life here. She has a host of relatives and friends who mourn her departure. rwbrauer@iland.net

Cole Camp Courier December 21, 1995, Pg. 3 Louis Haase Louis Friedrich Haase, age 90 of Cole Camp, Missouri, died at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home there, on December 15, 1995. He was born near Cole Camp on February 9, 1905, a son of Charlie and Gesche Wohlers Haase. He was united in marriage to Virgie Jewell Weaver on January 23, 1930 in Marshall, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 11, 1932. He was united in marriage to Dora Maria Schutte on March 2, 1939, and she survives of the home. Louis had worked as a pile driver on the Missouri River. He worked on the construction of Highway 65 from Warsaw to Waverly, Missouri, and he was a farm laborer, retiring in 1987. He lived in rural Cole Camp until 1984, when he moved into Cole Camp. He was a member of Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church. He was baptized at home on February 19, 1905. On April 13, 1919, at IMM. Monsees, he was confirmed. Besides his wife he is survived by five sons, Warren Eugene Haase, Shedd, Oregon; Larry Lee Haase, Sedalia, Missouri; Herbert Louis Haase, Jones Mills, Arkansas; Donald Wayne Haase, Marshall, Missouri; and Douglas Dale Haase, Troy, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother. Prayer service was held on Sunday, December 17, 1995, with visitation following. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 18, 1995 at Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, the Rev. Mark F. Laugavitz officiating. Interment was in Mt. Hulda Cemetery. the congregation, accompanied by Sharon Steffens, sang "Amazing Grace" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Pallbearers were Dale Haase, Jonathan Haase, Patrick Haase, Bruce Love, Warren Schutte, and Harry Brauer. The family suggest memorials to the Mt. Hulda Church Ramp Fund.     3. Please note: Many obits contain many errors. Cole Camp Courier, August 17, 1933 MRS. RUDOLPH HAASE DEAD Young Mother Called to the Eternal Home at an Age of 22 Years, 3 months and 2 days. The many relatives and friends of the Rudolph Haase family were saddened to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Haase which occurred late Tuesday night at her home near Cole Camp. Although being troubled with a weak heart in childhood she had always enjoyed good health and no one thought that her end was so close at hand. On Tuesday night at about 10 o'clock she suffered an attack of smothering and before her husband could provide relief she passed away. She reached the age of 22 years, 3 months and 2 days. Mrs. Anna Haase, nee Schutte, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Schutte and was born near Mt. Hulda, south of Cole Camp on May 13, 1911. She attended the Lutheran parochial day school and was confirmed in the Christian faith on April 13, 1924. On March 6, 1929 she was united in marriage with Rudolph Haase by Rev. C.B. Schroeder. After her marriage she transfered her membership to the Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of this city of which she has since been a faithful member. Two children were born to this union, Marveline, four years old and Robert Arnold, 10 days old. Besides her husband and two children, she leaves to mourn her departure, three sisters Emma, Mathilda and Dora Schutte, and three brothers, Amos and Fred, all of near Mt. Hulda and Ferdinand Schutte of Sedalia. Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house of mourning and at the Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Karl Niermann. Interment will be made in Trinity Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers will be R.C. Frederich, Otto Eckhoff, C.H. Alvena was born in Higginsville, Missouri on June 18, 1913, a dughter of Louis Henry and Elazableth Held Schowengerdt. On September 7, 1935, she married Albert John Haase, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Haase was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cole Camp. She was the Vice President of the Trinity Ladies Aid. Before retirement she was a seamstress at Lamey Manufacturing. Survivors include a son, Dr. Larry A. Haase, Warrensburg and a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Beckman, Cole Camp; three grandsons; two sisters, Amanda Alberswerth, Gladstone, Missouri and Luella Ridder, Higginsville, Missouri. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, 1989 at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Harvey Hendrickson and Vicar Richard Merrill officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Ralph Schowengerdt, Richard Schowengerdt, Robert Pragman, Charles Marcks, Edward Begemann, and Louis Albert Schowengerdt. Hickory, Cole Camp, passed away Wednesday morning, June 13, 1979, at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 15 days. He was born August 28, 1910, at Cole Camp, son of Claus C. and Anna W. Luetjen Haase. On September 11, 1910, he was baptized by Rev. Meyer and May 4, 1924, he was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. Karl Nierman. On September 7, 1935, he was united in marriage with Alvena M. Schowengerdt, who survives of the home. He had lived in Higginsville, Mo., for about 17 years before moving to Cole Camp in 1950. He had worked as a shoe cutter at Town and Country Shoes in Sedalia for 22 years from 1951-1973. Mr. Haase was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp. Other survivors include a son, Larry Albert Haase, Warrensburg; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Patricia Ann) Beckman, Cole Camp; a sister, Mrs. Norman (Frances) Hink, Cole Camp; three grandchildren, Jonathan E. Beckman of Cole Camp, Garry A. and Michael A. Haase of Warrensburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Erhard Wolf officiating, Lillie Borchers served as organist and Fern Marie Faaborg, vocalist, sang "Abide With Me." "Beautiful Savior" was sung by the congregation. Burial was in the church cemetery, north of Cole Camp. Pallbearers were Arthur Luetjen, Robert Haase, Ralph Haase, Richard Schowengerdt, Charles Marcks, Louis Schowengerdt, Melvin Schowengerdt and Loren Kaden. Dec, 1956, Pg. 1 Fred Lemler Dies in Higginsville Fred Lemler, 69, former resident of the Cole Camp community, died at his home in Higginsville at 11:45 p.m. Monday. Mr. Lemler was born at Cole Camp, where he grew to young manhood. On October 28, 1913 he was united to Miss Maggie Haase. Five children were born to this union. One son Leonard Lemler was killed in action in France on December 8, 1944. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Fred Lemler of Corder and Milburn of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Viola Miller, Higginsville and Mrs. Lorine Ray of Lexington, fifteen grandchildren, one brother, Albert Lemler, Cole Camp and two sisters, Miss Laura Lemler, Cole Camp and Mrs. Flora Bottcher, Sedalia. Funeral services were held at Souix City where burial was made. Mr. Haase was born at Cole Camp on August 20, 1904. He was baptized in infancy by the late Rev. J.C. Gardner, 66, of 1609 South Quincy, Sedalia passed away at the Bothwell hospital at 2:50 Friday afternoon. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the McLaughlin's Chapel in Sedalia with the Rev. Armin Klemme of the United Chrurch of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery. Lawrence F. Gardner was born in Cole Camp, February 19, 1897, son of Fred and Arma Tietjen Gardner. On August 16, 1919 he was united in marriage to Miss Nora Bruns. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of The American Legion Post 16, World War I Veterans, Barracks 820, Sedalia Masonic Lodge 236 and a member of the Carpenters Local 1792 for 22 years. He is a retired civil service employee. Surviving are three sons, Lawrence F. Gardner, Chicago, ILL.; Robert P. Gardner, Suffolk, Va.; Harold L. Gardner, Independence; two brothers, Herman T. Gardner of Chickasha, Oklahoma, a brother of Herman Gardner, formerly of Cole Camp, passed away at a hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.; Monday, January 7, following a lingering illness. The body was brought to Sedalia where funeral services were held at the Gillespie funeral home at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning. Rev. H.H. Heidbreder, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sedalia, officiated. Interment was made in Crown Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were: Fred, Ernest and Louis Koeller, Theodore and Alonzo Gardner and Glen Kell. Mr. Gardner was born in Kansas City, Mo., on November 1, 1889, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gardner of Sedalia. He united in marriage with Pernie Roberts, who survives, as does a son Paul, and a daughter Mrs. Fay Lorenzen, also a granddaughter all of Chickasha. He also leaves three brothers, Lawrence and Arthur Gardner of Sedalia and Herman Gardner of Kansas City; and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Bashore of Sedalia, and Mrs. George Gunter of Kansas City. One sister, Mrs. Clara Janes of Fulton, died two years ago. Cole Camp Courier January 4, 1973, Pg. 3 ERNEST PETER KOHRS Ernest Peter Kohrs was born Aug 8, 1897, at Cole Camp, Mo., the son of Gerdt Henry Kohrs and his wife, Adelheid Brunjes Kohrs. He was baptized into the Christian faith on August 22, 1897, and confirmed his baptismal vow at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp on April 9, 1911. On February 4, 1925, Mr. Kohrs was united in marriage with Miss Dora Koeller. This union was blessed with five sons, four of whom survive. Mr. Kohrs as a life long resident of the Cole Camp area, and was engaged in farming up to the time of his death. Ernest Peter Kohrs passed away on Wednesday morning, Dec. 27, 1972, at the Ellis Fischel State Hospital in Columbia, Mo., having attained the age of 75 years, 4 months, 19 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; by one son, John Kohrs, who died in early youth and two brothers. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dora Kohrs, of the Pinetree Rest Home in Butler, Mo.; four sons Rudolph Kohrs of rural Cole Camp; Marvin Kohrs of Raymond, South Dakota; Louis Kohrs of El Paso, Texas; and William Kohrs of Warsaw, Mo., one sister, Mrs. Ida Harms of Concordia, Mo.; one sister-in-law Mrs. A. H. Kohrs of Orange, California; and 19 grandchildren. Christian funeral services were conducted for Mr. Ernest Kohrs by the Rev. Gary R. Clayton at Trinity Lutheran Church, where Mr. Kohrs was a life-long member, the service being held on Friday, Dec. 29, 1972, at 3:00 o'clock p.m. Organist for the service was Mrs. Lillie Borchers, who accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Fern Marie Faaborg, as she sang, "God Loved The World So That He Gave His Only Son," and "The Lord's My Shepherd". Pallbearers were: Leon Anderson; Virgil Eckhoff; Jerry Esser; John D. Friedly, Jr.; Hillard Stelling; and Harold Schroeder. Committal was at Trinity Cemetery of Cole Camp. Koeller of Sedalia, who passed away at the Bothwell hospital at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sedalia. The Rev. W. Strickert, pastor, officiated. Pallbearers were: Fred Koeller, Clarence Koeller, Lawrence Koeller, Albert Koeller, Ferdinand Schutte and Fred Steffens. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia. Mrs. Grayce Koeller, 57, was born September 1, 1905 in Osawatomie, Kansas, a daughter of the late Louis H. and Nancy Knoche. The family moved to Sedalia in 1908. She was married to Lewis Koeller in Sedalia, September 16, 1923. Survivors include her husband of the home in Sedalia, three daughters, one son, 11 grandchildren, one sister and three brothers. rwbrauer@iland.net

Koeller, 80, 1820 East 13th, Sedalia, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Missouri Pacific Hospital, St. Louis. He had been ill for several months. He was born Feb. 21, 1894, at Cole Camp, son of John Henry and Dorthea Gardner Koeller. He grew up and was educated in Cole Camp, moving to Sedalia in 1912. He married Grayce Knoche, Sept. 16, 1923, in Sedalia. She died on March 3, 1962. He was employed as a railway clerk at the Mo-Pac Shops in Sedalia for 47 years until his retirement in June, 1960. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, American Legion Post No. 16, Covered Bridge VFW Post and the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. He is survived by one son, James L. Koeller, Independence; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Gregory, St. Louis; Mrs. Viola Stahl, Hammond, Ind.; Mrs. Katherine Hanna, 820 East 13th, Sedalia; one sister, Mrs. Dora Kohrs, Cole Camp; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday of last week at the McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Erhard Wolf officiating. Pallbearers were Fred, Lawrence, Clarence and Florence Koeller, Fred Steffens and Ferdinand Schutte. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia. rwbrauer@iland.net

Koeller of Sedalia, a brother of Charles Koeller of Cole Camp, passed away at the Missouri Pacific Hospital in St. Louis at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 10, at the age of 64 years. He had been hospitalized for eleven weeks. Mr. Koeller was born at Cole Camp, September 12, 1891, a son of the late John and Dora Koeller. On March 26, 1916 he united in marriage with Miss Elsie Lemler. He resided in Sedalia since 1925, where he was employed as a bridge builder with the Missouri Pacific railway. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sedalia. Mrs. Koeller preceded him in death on April 4. 1955. He is survived by two sons, Lawrence Koeller and Leonard Koeller, both of Sedalia; two grandchildren; four brothers, Charles Koeller, Cole Camp; Fred Koeller, Sedalia; Louis Koeller, Sedalia; Ted Koeller, Little Rock, Ark.; and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Steffens and Mrs. Dora Kohrs, both of Cole Camp. A brother, John Koeller and a sister, Mrs. Louise Schutte, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Gillespie Funeral Home, Sedalia with the Rev. W.F. Strickert, officating. Mrs. Al Schreiner and Mrs. F.J. Thomas with Mrs. Harold Skidmore as organist, sang, "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages." Ted P. Gardner, Lawrence Gardner, Wm. Cole Camp Courier April 22, 1982; Pg. 3 RUDOLPH JOHN HAASE Rudolph John Haase, Cole Camp, died at Bothwell Hospital, Sedalia, on Wednesday, April 4, 1982, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 9 days. He was born at Cole Camp on February 5, 1902, the son of Karl and Gesche (Wohler) Haase. He was baptized March 2, 1902, by Rev. J. C. Viets and confirmed March 28, 1915, by the Rev. C. B. Schroeder at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Monsees. On March 2, 1929, he married Anna Schutte, who died in 1933. On September 12, 1940, he married Rosie M. Schuette, who survives of the home. Rudolph retired from Parkhurst Manufacturing in 1969 and was a carpenter. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna, and one daughter, Marvaline Boyd. He is survived by his wife, Rosie; one son, Robert Haase of Sedalia; one brother, Louis Haase of Cole Camp; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. Prayer service was held Thursday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services were at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, April 16, at 1:30 p.m. with interment at the parish cemetery, the Rev. A. J.
