I would appreciate any help with information about this family from the 1870 census Bates Co. MO, p. 26, Charlotte Twp., Butler P. O. Aaron BAYLES, 39, TN Harriet 36, IL Lewis 11, MO Jane 3, MO Rosetta 6/12, MO FORBES, Fannie (?) 13, KS FORBES, Nancy 11, KS FORBES, James 7, KS I believe that Harriet was Elizabeth Harriet (ALEXANDER) FORBES and when her husband, Reuben Forbes died perhaps early 1860's in Bourbon Co. KS, she married Bayles. The above household may be "his, hers, and their" children. This census shows them living among Harriet's Forbes brothers-in-law. There is also a Dillon Bayles 24, born MO, living next to Aaron. He also has a wife and 2 children, the youngest one born in KS. Jane Bayles age 15, born MO, and Lydia Bayles, age 8, born MO, lived on the other side of Aaron Bayles, with Robert and Sarah Jones. My questions are: Does anyone on this mail list research the BAYLES or FORBES families?? Has the census of 1880 for this county been published in book form or does anyone have an index?
