I would like to find an obituary for Jane Sharp Rains who died 5 August 1898. Has the Butler paper been microfilmed? Is it available in Butler, or will I have to get it at the State Historical Society in Columbia? Years ago, I looked through some old bound newspapers in the basement of the Bates County Museum. Are they still there, available for research? As I live out of state, my time will be limited when I am able to make it to Butler later this year so wish to know the best place to get this obit. Any help is appreciated. Kay
You can order newspaper microfilms into your local public library that come from the State Historical Society. You can order two films for the cost of $6.75 and I believe you can keep them for 10-14 days before they have to be sent back. I have ordered a number of them for the newspapers in Butler, Bates and Cass Counties. I live outside of Billings, MT and it sure makes it handy to do it this way for me. Good luck with your research. Maggie ----- Original Message ----- From: William C.
