I visited Bates County a couple of months ago for the first time. I only had two days to do all my research and found the Butler Library staff to be extremely helpful. Another good source I found was at the Butler Court House -- they had marriage records and probate records readily on file. My ancestors also lived in Pleasant Gap Township and most were buried in the Meyers Cemetery. The library has an index listing of all the cemeteries in the area. Good hunting!
