    3. The State Historical Society of Missouri began a new policy January 1, of this year. I received copies of newspaper articles from the State Historical Society of Missouri in November, 2000, and the letter that they sent with my copies included a note: "Society staff will limit research for individuals to a maximum of three sepcific requests per letter, with a limit of four such letters per year (total requests not to exceed 12.) Missouri residents and Society members will not be charged for staff research time. Members should include their membership number - found on Society mailing labels - with their request. Out of state patrons who are not members of the Society will be allowed the same research limits as stated above, but will be charged a non-refundable search fee of $15.00 per letter." Their letter included this statement: "Please note that unless a complete citation is provided--name of town, title of paper, date of issue (month/day/year), page and column - a request will be considered research, and count toward the research limit." They DO offer interlibrary loan service for Missouri newspapers on microfilm to public and college libraries anywhere in the US. Names of private researchers can be provided on request. Dot
