Wanted to share some exciting news please read the email below. Perhaps you may want to help in this project as well. Thanks Linda ----- Original Message ----- From: Archives Volunteer Hello All, It's the start of a new year, and you know what that means-1961 death certificates are available!!! We've received them from the Bureau of Vital Records and are in the process of scanning them as I write this message. If all goes smoothly, we should be ready to start transcribing by January 17th. This year we will again be using the online application set up by our IT department, thus enabling individuals to view actual death certificate images. Participating volunteers will be asked to transcribe the required information from the images into an online form located directly below. This is set up as a double blind system, meaning each certificate will be transcribed at least twice to ensure accuracy. If the first two transcriptions match, the record will be approved. If not, the certificate image is transcribed by a third volunteer. If that transcription fails to match either the first or second, it will automatically be flagged for Archives' staff to review. If you participated in either the 1960 death certificate project last January, or the 1912 project in April, you DO NOT NEED TO REREGISTER. Your existing email and password will allow you to access the online application. However, if you did not participate in either of these projects, you will need to follow the below link to register. REGISTRATION LINK http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/evolunteers/EvolunteerRegister/Default.aspx When the certificates are scanned and placed online, I will send a message to the registered volunteers with a link to the login site. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Regards, Brian Rogers Research Analyst Missouri State Archives 600 W.
