There are apparently a couple of different Black families in Barry/Newton.. Robert Black & Susannah Shaw came through Reynolds Co Mo ca 1845, then to Shoal Creek, Barry Co ca 1858. An online genealogy ( 1 of at least 3 different sets Parents) shows Spencer Black as his father and died in Iron county, an adjoining or separated county of Reynolds.. Spencer died 1855. There are no obits , or wills before 1857, but there several Black under family group sheets, that show some Black families in Newton County pre 1858.. and associated with Iron/Reynolds county. Reynolds Co must have been a stopping point for wagon trains with families moving on to Barry County. Those of you with Black family ancestors might want to also look at this county and Iron for further info.
