Thanks to everyone for all this information about strawberries. It's one of the few things that I know about Grandma's relatives in Barry County. This would have been between 1910-1920. I always assumed that she was harvesting on the family farm, but maybe she was going down there to work and earn a little pin money. Her father worked for the railroad, so she could ride for free from St. Louis to Pierce City and/or Monett. Both towns were mentioned in the stories she told.
