Thanks for all you do, Frances. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/schoolbook/schools/1894.purdy.htm The biggest surprise of all is a photo one from Judy Corcoran who sent us of Charles Haddock, Sr. It is a tin type, badly damaged, but the image can still be seen. This photo was probably taken not long before Charles died in 1859. I heard about this photo many years ago but didn't know who had it or if it was still in existence or not. The story I heard was that Charles wanted to have his picture taken with his metals before he died. The tin type photo came into being around 1856 and he died in 1859 so this really dates the photo for us. This is a family treasure - one we are glad to see. My grandparents on the Haddock side are pictured in this photo, Sam and Gertie (Addington) Haddock. This photo was taken in 1923 or 1924 - and I really think probably 1924. Alice Allen submitted the photo a few days ago and you can see it at this link. If you see anyone you recognize, please let me know.
