Patricia: The Cassville fire, April 13, 1893, took out the early Cassville newspapers. If you look on the index page for newspapers you will see the first year of the Cassville papers is 1890, and there are only 4 papers for that year. I think that those four must have come from a family collection. At the Monday meeting of the Barry County genealogical & Historical Society, Ted Roller broke out a copy of the Cassville Democrat from 1886. It was in raggedy shape, but plans are underway to have it shipped to the state archives for preservation.
