Thank you for the generosity. I love the photographs and the history you are all sharing regarding Barry county families and connections to the schools, etc. The book I am reading about schoolhouses in the midwest seems to be generally about those in Ohio, Nebraska and largely Kansas. The title of the book is One-Room Schools of the Middle West, by Wayne E. Fuller. Obviously, this is what made me start thinking about the schoolhouses I'd like to see and/or know about in the Barry County area. I personally wouldn't know which roads to choose to drive down if I set out to find them myself. Obviously many of you know the fields and roads like the 'back of your hand' and have super things to share. Thank you for educating me and others. Deb (Shipman) Rowe
There is a map showing where 114 of our rural school were located, at the Barry County Museum Penny ----- Original Message ----- From: "Deb Rowe" <kcwordweaver@yahoo.com> To: <MoBarry-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2008 10:09 AM Subject: [MOBARRY] Schoolhouse discussion > Thank you for the generosity.
