Jack, Jay, Ted, et al ... Guessing that you are in need of money for all these many tasks - please give name and address so a donation may be made. Needless to say, living in Georgia doesn't allow me to help physically so this is my solution in order to be of help. I understand plans are under way for the committee to restore and put up a memorial stone for those buried on what was once the Barry Co Poor Farm. I imagine donations for the memorial stone will be needed. So far several names of those buried there have been found. I know the committee would welcome any information anyone has on who is buried there. A news item appeared in the Barry Co. Advertiser Wednesday, March 12, 2008: Excerpts from that story: "The Jacksons deeded the 60x125 foot cemetery site to the county . In 1973 the late Leon Jackson fenced off the cemetery plots. He had done a survey in 1975 and located 20 gravesites. Boy Scout Troop 76 and their scout masters Kevin Miekley and Tim Smith met with the Barry County Historical Society Cemetery Restoration Committee: Jay Trace, Jack Fly, Ted and Iva Roller with president Georgia Ball Farwell. with the Boy Scouts assisting , they started clearing off the site. The BCG&H Society plan to install a gate and erect a monument. On May 2, 1905, Barry County purchased a forty acre tract just northwest of the Cassville City Limits. Shortly after the purchase from C.R. Edison the county began construction of a building to house "paupers."" There has been mentioned there may actually be two cemeteries.
