List Readers: You will remember that I told you sometime back that the Barry County web site is under total reconstruction and that the old "obsolete" font pages are being updated to XHTML in CSS. This means that these new pages will meet newer browser and other web standards. As you scoot around in cyberspace looking at the Barry County pages you will probably notice a little yellow box at the bottom of some of these new pages that reads "W3C css". That is really just a marker for me so that I will know that those pages validate to the standards of the World Wide Web Consortium and that I don't need to work on them again. Beyond the technical talk - by doing this project we can be assured that our pages will be readable for a long, long time. Yes, as you probably figured out by now - this type of web work is taking a lot of time but certainly will be worth it in the long run. So - I want to show some of the new pages and see how you like them. This one is of a photo that Ralph Lamberson submitted - http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/balmas.john.p.htm Here is one that Georgia Ball Farwell Hart submitted - and updated her new address with this newer version. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/ball.john.fam.htm This one is of the Blankenship family that Larry Edwards submitted - it is little different style than the other two - and has added some new notes that Phyllis Long submitted. As we go, in some cases, we are also adding some research notes and changing "unworkable" e-mail addresses. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/edwards/blankenshiplor.htm In the newspaper clips is a news item that Jack Fly submitted. Phyllis is helping with the news items - here is a sample of the new format for this section and one she did. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/data/news/corsicanafly.htm World War I is totally in a new format - here is what it looks like now. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/WWI/index.htm World War Ii is in a totally new format, too - here are the new pages - http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/WWII/WWII.htm The obits and death certificates are in a new format, too. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/data/obits.htm Some of the cemetery pages are in new format - but not all - not yet. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/rschcemtery.htm Hope you enjoy these new changes and hang in there with us as we work through this project.
