List Readers, Our featured photo for the coming week is one that Betty Lamberson submitted. It is a photo of a stone that commemorates the 12 pioneer families that came in 1836 and settled near Monett. The stone reads - 1836 - Pioneer on one side - and this on the other: Boucher, Brite, Cagle, Hewlett, Mann, Moody, Morris, Pruitt, Schooling, Spilman, Woods, Wormington. These families lived in Barry, Newton, Lawrence County. Every 3rd Sunday of September there is a Pioneer Families Reunion that is held in Monett City Park in Barry County. That date is September 19th, I think. I have seen this stone but can't remember exactly where it is placed. Maybe some of you can add to that information. We think that our Haddock family came in 1836 - so I wonder why these 12 families were chosen as the pioneer families. But the Haddock family first settled near Eagle Rock and Munsey and were no where near where these families lived - I suppose that could be the answer. Donna Cooper
