I am currently in the process of repairing the headstone for Hiram Leath. Hiram's stone was found broken in the Osa Cemetery recently (not from vandalism but just from deterioration). The date of death is no longer legible as the latest break in the stone went through the worn and faded date. MOBARRY lists the date of death as 4 Mar 1863, however further research on the web turns up a date of 4 March 1866 with one story stating he was killed while returning from the war. One way to disprove the 1863 date is a check of his muster rolls from the FOOTNOTE website should any of you subscribe to that service. I would be very grateful to anyone you might be able to provide the correct date so I can be assured that the information going on the stone is correct.
